Spoke to one of the A/C maint supervisors at JFK. They are all on edge as last week they received their evaluations. He said they are looking to cut at least 2 supvs in addition to the 2 who are retiring. There are two GF's retiring but are not being replaced. Seems to me that the company is posturing to show the union that it is being more proactive in cost cutting. Something tells me once the TWU caves in and gives the concessions, the management ranks will swell back up to inflated numbers again. The moral of this story is that AA speak with forked tongue. They want to operate an airline like Southwest and at JetBlue's cost structure but are not willing to change its business model.

hey hopeful here in stl they just hired one supervisor and are suppose to hire two more. heck we almost got more supervisors than amts.

Too bad they don not put some more laid of TWA amts back to work. Oh well, at least I found a new job away from this airline business.

Thats what we have at JFK, more supervisorrs than crew chiefs!

You must have amazing productivity now with all of that leadership.

Your post contradicts your Username.

AMR is correct in not changing anything, except for necessary cuts in the
payrolls, management and non.

We are a spoiled nation one with that measures an individual's success by the size of his or her SUVs.

The war will be fought, and when it's over the Hummers will keep humming, and the business types will return to their assigned seats. Those currently walking the pavement will return, and the TWA bashing will continue as before.

Have you ever used web conferencing? Wonderful stuff and much much cheaper than flying. People might get used to it. We did, and our company used to fly a lot. Not nearly as much now.

Please don't subscribe to this 'rubber-band' theory that everything will snap back to the comfort zone of yesteryear.

AAquila:
So what you are saying is that all AA needs to do is cut salaries and they can achieve their goal of $1.8 billion. That's easy, all they have to do is cut everyones salary about 20%.

I got an idea. Since web access is right around the corner on flights, why not offer in-flight web conferencing? AA could be the first to have this feature. You could do your web conference on the way to the meeting, and then when you get there, everyone's ready to go out for a nice dinner and drinks!
