Crap!!!

Base Mechanic 23.77 / hr

Line Mechanic 24.77 / hr

Lead about a dollar more..

I hear ya. After the billions we gave back to AMR, there is talk of more concessions on the way. Gerard Arpey already stated that we cannot be at a competitive disadvantage, namely with USAIR and UNITED.

For what they want to pay us, I declare airline jobs officially dead.

It seems to me that you will be saying buh bye to more USAir employees much sooner than to AA.

Don't be so overconfident that U will make it. In my city U is advertising agent jobs for about $6 and change an hour for part time and ramp for $7.17 an hour for part time and nobody is responding to the adds. Also, according to the people at U, a lot have quit already and I think it is safe to say more will leave if/when they get this supposed buy out. Just remember CO under Lorenzo paid the same wages and had to file bankruptcy twice and came within minutes of shutting the doors forever when they almost filed bankruptcy number three. Remember, three bankruptcys and your out. For those of you who feel that ramp, agents, cleaners, flight attendants should make next to nothing, you got your wish. But just remember that poverty level pay does not insure success.

Yes, the concessions suck, but hardly the poverty wages you say we agreed to. At least for the f/as. Good luck AMR. 😉

If it is true that the majority voted yes in order to get the buyout, then that is a lot of people that are going to have to be replaced. Yet, they can't even fill vacancies now because the starting pay is so low. After this third round, the only people who will stick around are those who feel they can't find anything better and won't even try. Those who have an education or a trade will go where they can make the same or more money without all the BS.

If market forces raise the salaries of workers at U or any airline, those salaries are likely to be much more stable and reliable over time, then those determined by seniority benefits promised by the terms of a contract negotiated in an environment of group politics.

Change in the distribution of wealth and benefits in the 21st century is going to have to come in areas of equitable retirement benefits, educational opportunities, equal access to health care and safe and sanitary housing. I don't necessarily like that, but I don't see any other way.
