Due to the weight factor, I would imagine that they strip the old paint off. I recall being told that the paint on a 727-200 added somewhere in the range of 400 lbs. to the A/C. I know that if you want a good paint job on a car that the old stuff should all be stripped off prior to a fresh coat.Just curious. Do they actually strip the old paint, or paint over the old paint after sanding?
This is the reason AA says they go with the polished silver look with just the stripes and logo. Less weight = less fuel expense.
Can't believe mg'mt paid out good money for the black "night camme" scheme you guys have today. The "image consultants" that came up with that one saw Wolfe and Gangreen for the suckers they were, I guess.
THANK YOU! ! ! !

This is why the "navy" not "black" was soo nice in comparison to all the other carriers in the US and Europe.....you'll notice that the US A-330 makes quite an impression next to all the other carriers! The ONE good thing that Wolfe knew how to do was create a professional image.

On the Top Photo, what airline is that behind the Singapore? The small tail fin. Honestly it looks out of place.Elegance in a sea of drab white...
