JetBlue Flies the Extra Mile -- Announcing New Nonstop Service Between Syracuse and Orlando: Service Begins July 20, Fares Start at $99(a), Plus -- Fourth Daily Nonstop to New York's JFK Starts November 1

NEW YORK, June 1, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq:JBLU) today announces new nonstop service from Syracuse-Hancock International Airport to Orlando, FL. Flights feature its award-winning service, 36 channels of DIRECTV® programming and roomy, all-leather seats. Daily nonstop service will begin July 20, with regular fares ranging from $99(a) to $299(a) each way.

In addition, JetBlue will add a fourth daily nonstop flight from Syracuse to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York starting November 1.

"The people of Central New York have spoken!" said David Neeleman, CEO, JetBlue Airways. "Our Syracuse customers tell us JetBlue's nonstop service to New York's JFK is great, but nonstop to Orlando would be even better. So starting July 20, we are going to make it as easy as possible to get to Florida, with award-winning service and low fares."

Lots of demand between mid-sized northeastern cities and Florida. I wonder if B6 will try this in some of their other markets like Burlington, Rochester or Buffalo.

I would believe that non-stops from Central NY to FLA from DEC-APR would be very welcomed service, and add to B6's yields. (Also, they could use the E190's in the summer?...)

US Airways used to provide non-stops to MCO in prior years. Actually, Piedmont Airlines started this. In season, flights always heavy, a could be expected.

Must say, another smart move by B6, and the fight is on for CNY's passengers.
