What's new

Next new Destination ?

The only odd-ball is the A-300's, and there really is'nt a replacement a/c for that ol'(money making) pig.

Sure there is -- A-model 777's, which don't have nearly the same range as the -ER and -LR versions. UAL bought a bunch of them as a 747-100/DC-10 replacement, and flies them in a high density two class configuration.

A few of these are already on the used market, and although they have different engines, they'd still share a common cockpit with the remaining 777 fleet and a hypothetical 787 fleet.

HELLO!! AA does fly to Italy seasonally from Chicago and JFK to ROME!!!!
Big deal. I don't happen to care for Italy in the summer when you can't stir the tourists with a baseball bat (and I don't mean just American tourists), or get a non-rev seat. However, Italy in December or January when there is no one there but the Italians...now that's magic!

What speculation hast thou for the announcement that both AeroMexico and Mexicana are ending all service to DFW? I know that for most destinations in Mexico, this is more of a boon to AE, but it seems to me that some additional mainline to Mexico City and resort destinations--such as, Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta (but not just seasonal)--might be in order.

The article I read suggested that the DL pull out at DFW was the reason that Aeromexico was pulling out because they had depended upon connecting passengers from that partner.

Here are some additional details:
I'll just add that Tel Aviv District Court Judge Varda Alshech entered a judgement against AA for the value of the lost severance pay suffered by the former TWA employees. TWA, under AA management while still operating under the US Bankruptcy Court supervision, pulled out of TLV in the stealth of the night, stranding a crew in TLV for several days until they were DH out of there on BA, for fear that the airplane would be impounded.
Didn't TWA Inc. stop flying to TLV 1 or 2 days before the asset sale to AA closed?

I respectfully disagree, as TWA did in fact cancel TLV prior to the close of the asset sale. I think aafsc got it right.

AA continued (with TWA LLC flights) CAI until September 11, but TLV was canceled prior to the April ___ 2001 asset sale date.

HMMMM.... Now I wonder, Do I like him or dislike him due to that fact?
I would like to see Sen Liebermann question him on this decision against the Jewish workers. 😀

Without reading the complete decision to vacate, I would speculate that future workers rights decisions at the Supreme Court might not be so worker friendly. Then again, have they ever been?

FWAAA

I think we were both right. AA had TWA cancel before the sale because they were afraid the Employees or courts in TLV would seize an airplane for the amount they were owed. Too bad us employees and retirees here in the USA could not have done the same thing for what we were promised by Carty and Compton. Those 2 have to be the biggest liars in the history of the USA.

If they had been able to seize an aircraft for payment of debts owed, it would have been a TWA 767 which I believe TWA leased all their 767s. So TWA and the leasing company would have lost; not AA.

Yes, but as the DIP, AA was in control of TWA's operations for all practical purposes.

Senator Lieberman does not sit on the Judiciary Committee, however, five of its members, including the chairman, are Jewish.

...from a coulpe different people, I've heard that twice before (once before the acquisition & once as part of) AA had an assessment compiled on serving TLV. It seems logical given the large JFK presence. What the assessments stated was that there is no bigger target than a big shiny plane with the word "American" across the side of it. Unfortunate, but I think that until there is true piece there, AA will stay out...most likely, so will UA given both having been targeted during 9/11...
<_< A little foot note here. I did hear, talking to what was then the Director of Quaity Control for TWAllc, a few years back, that for a breif second, aa did concider taking over all TWA's former middle east flights. And posibly fling them in TWA levery! A vary "Breif" second!! 😉

It's very sad TWA stopped service to Tel Aviv, its a special market from JFK. Continental has served it well, 2 777 daily last I checked. Given AA's reasoning, I would have stopped flying there too. History isn't profitable, TWA and Pan Am had some station that resembled Embassies with 70 local people for 1 flight a day. I can understand that many at say LHR or CDG but Rome or Tel Aviv, 70 seems too many for an efficient operation.
