NICKNAMES

The ramp gives everyone nicknames, yes even those that work upstairs. If they resemble a celebrity, if They're a little "TOO" friendly with their coworkers, if they have an attitude, I'm sure a nickname was given to them, usually they're the last to know what it is.
Well in that case, I think my name might be Snarky Snotface.

"Wolverine"
He had facial hair like the character in "X-Men". He has since shaved it off but the name will remain.

That reminds me of that clown named "Burgerking" or was it "Whopper" or are we talking about the same guy?

CLT had a "Tumbleweed". She got that name by driving directly behind an A/C running at the gate falling off the tug and stumbling into the backwash of the second engine... looked like a bowling ball.

By the way, half the people don't know your real name lol. You are "Joe Dirt"!

We also have a guy named "Donut" maybe Joe can explain that name. I think it had something to do with Lav service.

Only the senior CLT guys remember the kid called "Far Side". he earned the name his first day of work. Looked identicle to the kid on the far side cartoon.

Picture hits the nail on the head...lol....yea Joe tell the folks about doughnut.

"Doughnut"

Doughnut is one of a kind. A while back this fellow wore wingtip shoes while working the ramp. I don't know if he still wears them. He is also the guy whose belt broke while flagging in an aircraft. He tried to keep his pants up by bending his knees out to the sides. When he realized this wasn't doing any good he stood up straight and let the pants fall where they may. The captian was laughing so hard he could barely bring the A/C down the line.

The name came about quite a few years ago when we did the lav service on all the A/C. While dumping the lav he was seen with one hand on the hose and using the other to consume a sweet treat. I have heard it was either a honey bun or a glazed Krispy Kreme. There ever after he has been know as "Doughnut".

"Burger King" and "Whopper" are one in the same. He is sometimes referred to as just "The King".

The name was given because of the red curly hair sticking out from under his hat just like the Burger King character in the commercials. I think he actually posts on here but I will not reveal just exactly who it is.

Rat Tails you are correct more people call me Joe or Dirt or Joe Dirt more than my real name.

I thought it went more along the lines of his neglecting to look for the donut on the lav dump and he always ended up with ramp trout all over himself and the ramp.
Either version make for a chuckle.

I have heard both stories but after all these years who knows which is true. They both may be.

This is really weird... Are these RAMP(URBAN) legends or are all ramps exactly the same. Are we gonna form a "worm hole" discussing these eerily similar moments on the ramp? Cue the twilight zone music 😱

There was a guy in LAS, they said would eat chocolate bars as he did the lavs. Not on purpose, but as he waited for the lav to drain, he got hungry and ate a snack.

There are a few universal truths in aviation:

1. Everyone will eventually get a nickname. At a minimum, you can expect a bastardized version of either your first or last name .

2. Any bagroom with a circular belt *will* make you insane. It's not a matter of "if," but a matter of "when."

There was a lav driver in PHX that dropped a doughnut (the kind you eat) while driving his lav truck. The doughnut hit the floor and as he bent over to pick it up, he drove into a parked aircraft. That was years ago.
