For whatever reason this was instituted I think it is a revenue winner.

Revenue will help me maintain-at least-or get back some of the stuff I've been forced to give up in our contract.

As far as corporate duplicity-read the WSJ (which I'm sure you do)from time to time-it's better than fiction.

If you think bottled water is in general somehow better than most municipal water supplies, you are deluding yourself. I think there are wide variations in quality of "tap water," but unless one lives in a community that happens to be at the low end of the quality scale, there is no danger in drinking water from the faucet...at least no more danger than in drinking water from plastic bottles The fact is, city water supplies are more tightly regulated than water bottlers are.
Nowhere did I say that. I don't buy bottled water. My point is that the water that comes to the house is not FREE.

I have gotten quite a few calls from my friends telling me that the selling of drinks is not going that bad. The service went quickly and most were prepared. My husband flew this morning and he said it seemed to go well.

Have you visited your local water treatment facility lately? The water that comes to your house went through a whole lot to make it potable. That cost $$$$$$. I visited a water treatment plant in DC last summer. The first phase of purifying is the mechanical phase where they remove the bulk (they also find body parts occasionally). Then they have to remove the tons of chemical waste that is dumped into our system which come from industries. One of the worst things that we do at home is dumping medications down the sink and toilet which goes straight into our water system. Unless you collect rain water with a filtering system or have a source of fresh water near your home, the water that you receive is definitely not FREE.
That is why I stated I used a Brita for my home drinking water. How does one know how safe Purified Water is, as well as Spring Water? As for the water being Free, OK it is not. But that is just like taxes, something that I have to pay for. I depend ALOT on my Brita Filtering System and I love it. But when I go out, what kind of water do businesses use for their coffee machines? Tap water. So it is a "Catch 22" with water.

In my "secret squirrel inbox", sources told me that maybe 30 drinks were "sold" on a transcon today. Many people brought drinks with them. The FA was trying to sell, but without success. Some passengers did complain, and were told to email customer relations.

The same goes for antibacterial soap and bleach. I’m rural and have a septic system, so I’m always reading the labels to avoid that stuff. All it really does is slow down the natural process.

Uh, I guess, but what does that have to do with the fact that no one freaked about charging for sodas?
I never expected chaos in the aisles, but I don’t think US is going to see anywhere near $40M in revenue they projected. Or were they lying again?

so stupid. raise the fare $2 and you'll make more than you would on water and nobody would notice.

Okay. You're right. I missed the point you were trying to make.

But what is free? (Of the stuff that one might really want to have, that is.)

Air.
Sunlight, moonlight and starlight.
The view from whatever vantage point you have.

Not much else.

That’s only $60!

It’s obvious an extra day needs to be added to Recurrent ever year for sales training. Hmmm, I wonder who could conduct the class.

Well, then. The answer is simple. Ride only KL CityHopper!
I wish I could. The only problem I have with them is sometimes they make me check my Rollaboard, but in that respect it’s no worse than flying in a RJ.

I did 3 flights today and had no issues other then getting change! A change fund would have helped out a lot.

Other then that, service went super quick. Sold almost 200 worth of $2 sodas.

I'm not a big environmentalist mainly due to ignorance but I've become very aware of the crap that we dump into our waterways. At the hospital, we pour out all IV meds into the sink. Narcotics, anti-psychotics, everything. There should be a law against this.
