Just admitted my point ! Owning a cellphone is a "Want".......... thanks !
Paying the "Surcharges" imposed on my carrier, by the government, so they can give away cell service, is "The neccsessary Evil" !
Sorry can't afford to pay you, I'm financing free cell phones !
Ok, maybe they're at Kmart !
And the simple concept is, in order for me to own a cellphone, I must pay the taxes imposed by "THE GOVERNMENT" on my carrier, so that everyone in America can own one..................it is a right..............isn't it ?
 
Guess you didnt read your link, that is for dial up internet service, lol, not broadband, dial up wont work for majicjack, as you have to have a landline for the internet service you posted.

Not to mention that the base line conection speed is only 56k and Magic Jack requires at least 128k.

That is what I said several posts ago (see post #22) and then you went off on a rabbit trail only to come back to where I started. A cell phone from sprint is $30 a month which also allows for communication in emergency situations out side the home. Given the tax differences in various states the $5 dollar difference seems a moot issue.

SO back to the original question. Why are you willing to subsidizes a land line when for pretty much the same cost you can subsidize a cell phone.

Hey! I've got a truly radical idea here! How about we all stop paying people for them to just exist? We could just breed thousands/millions of rabbits for that amusing BS...witha lot less crime and trouble? How about a common and sensible demand come forth for them to do something/ANYthing actually useful to society?....IE: You don't work = You don't eat....? 🙂

Fine by me...............as soon as the government subsidizes my cell phone..........in the name of emergencys !

I keep payin' in and keep getting a bad return !
 
IN post 15 you said you were all for subsidizing landlines for the poor Are you back tracking on that now?
 
I am for subsidizing "LANDLINES'" for the poor and like I said, if were subsidizing cell phones for the poor, simply because of "In case of Emergency" , I want a subsidy.............you know.............in case of emergency and all that !
 
If my having a cell phone is classified as a want, then why is it classified as a need for the person receivingLifeline or an Obamaphone?...

Or are cell phones now considered a civil right?

If the price is basically the same who cares which route they go? Cell phones are much more practical if you want folks to have better access to getting jobs etc. Cell phone is always on a person as opposed to a land line.
