What's new

No pension increase for you!

So your saying your daughter feels that given a choice between healthcare and grad school she chose grad school(you said she couldn't do both). That's what I am saying, many people can afford it but choose other things. I don't know what percentage it is but I would think that there is a lot of those 44,000,000 without healthcare that are like your daughter and my son. Young people sometimes feel the risk is worth it. As for my son, he makes $8.50 an hour part time as a airline agent and the healthcare costs would take a good chunk of his pay and he would rather not. It is his choice.
I don't think you got the point....... It's the top 50% of all income earners pay 96% of all income taxes. This is after they have used their tax shelters and write-offs and all that other stuff. The bottom 50% covers the the last 4%, which is where I am.
Over 30? Just wondering. You are probably pretty much set in your views then. I was going to throw in another Churchill quote but I changed my mind. By the way, good screen name. Very clever.

Typical Right remark...yea, just like many people choose whether its important to feed your family and put a roof over their heads, or health care.

If you say that is just not happening..your a bigger fool than you let on.

What actually is your interpretation of the screen name? Just wondering where your mind set is...

I believe I was talking about your daughters choice between health insurance and grad school, not whether she is giving up healthcare to put food on the table or pay for an apartment.

And the screen name? Miss Ann Thrope......Misanthrope-someone who hates humanity, distrusts others, avoids people.....I just thought it was a pretty clever play on words..

Your entire thought process is just PLAIN wrong.

That is not how a liberal thinks! Only those rightees would believe that crap above...to make excuses to justify their own "means" cause that is what they practice.
And yours is the right one???

Unless you've been living under a rock...thats how it works now days.

Haven't seen or met any welfare recipients sitting around impoverished waiting for someone to come and open that great big door to become a doctor or lawyer...

A liberal creation run amok.....

Can I borrow one of your michael moore dvd's?

Guess your boys showed Lieberman,eh?

Mom never heard of Hill-Burton(a Truman creation)or free cinics?

Thanks. Unfortunately, I am well over thirty and, yes, pretty set in my opinions. I thought it was a good play on words too, but that really doesn't describe me . . . I'm not even a cynic, even though the world is a tough place and life is difficult and not fair. 😱

I should probably be Ms. N. Thrope for the correct pronunciation.

Yup. I am always right, anytime, all the time.

Folks whose family was ON welfare do aspire to do great things and improve their outcomes. My roomate in college had a single parent mom and they were on welfare her entire life. Back in those days, she received a grant for her education and had to do work study as well. She graduated with a business degree and operates a bar/restaurant in Pittsburgh. I have a very good friend who I went to H.S. with in New Kensington. His family lived in Arnold on the river in a Duplex. His Dad was unemployed more than he was employed at the time when steel mills were on the rocks. He did not go to the Prom because his family didn't have the money to rent a suit and dinner.

Today, the kid is one of the leading plastic surgeons in New York City. His parents had 3 kids and couldn't afford to educate any of them. He took out loans and qualified for mostly grant moeny and went to school.

He also gives presentations all over the world...and he's a liberal.

Had another friend from my H.S. days who mostly was "high" through his high school years. His family was on welfare lived in Apollo. His dad mostly drank and beat the kid. He almost didn't graduate.

Today, he owner and President of a $4 million Thermo Window co. in Minnesota. He actually aspired to be the Senior VP of the Thermo Windows Public company and left 2 years ago to open his own company. I'm still in touch.

Back in those days, the gov. did provide grants for kids who had the desire to improve their lives and break the cycle of welfare. Well, the Republicans took care of that and tightened up the qualifications for grant monies to help these kids get out of that system. Thank you Ronnie!

YOu have a very slanted view, but that is from the right wing brain-washing machine.

I have a sister just with your thinking (but I love her) 😉

Dell and Aeroman:

Just for your FYI today and aired on your favorite Media station FOX News...

George W. Bush,at the White House in an address to the press ADMITTED that IRAQ had NO wepons of mass destruction. They thought they did, but it was found that they didn't. His reasoning for being in IRAQ if for an ideology of democracy and freedom for the people and the region...AND HE GOES ON TO SAY, that U.S needs a presence in IRAQ in order to FIGHT TERRORISM in the region. He has no intentions of leaving IRAQ as long as he is president. "Why", the media asked? ..." Because if we leave, the terrorists will fight us here," his response.

Unfriggen be-livable.!!

Now, go ahead and spin that for the sake of your party.
