Hey Bigsky, it was just a matter of time before NWA responded to United's new drive into Asia. Well... it's gonna be massive I can tell you that. Northwest called up 600 furloughed Cabin Crew today. All to be back online by 1/05. Guess the non-stops will be returning sooner than later. One non-Asian new flight rumored / DTW-Sao Paolo. Along with a build up of Paris. BigRed is on the move.

Got notified today of the F/A "recall". Must admit I'm excited after being furloughed for 1 1/2 yrs . I really did have faith all along in NW that we would return .. it was just a matter of "when" . Here's hoping that things will change for the better for all carriers.

Wishing everyone blue skies and stong tailwinds .. Jen

Sounds like good news for NWA. I am not surprised that NW is defending its turf by not letting the high yield market go to the dogs. Hopefully the expansion will be painless. Good luck.

I don't know all the specifics, but rumor has it that NWA will be starting SEA-CDG with the A330 and adding MSP-CDG also with the 'big bus' along with Air France starting CDG-DTW. ALPA has said all pilots will be recalled or have the option to be recalled in 2005. A good time to be a NWA for now. Go Big Red and Skyteam!!!

cheers

I do hope NWA responds aggressively to UAL's planned China takeover. A friend of mine, a UAL FO, had Tilton on board and asked a few questions. When my buddy asked Tilton, "which airline are we going to go after once we get our ducks in a row"; he was expecting to hear Frontier but instead Mr. Tilton replied, "Northwest".

good luck

Bigsky, I have a solid contact in planning that will keep me briefed on the where and when. It's gonna get bloody across the Pacific. Mr. Tilton will have his work cut out for him. The Red machine is getting ready to kick into 5th gear big time. It's good timing. We are more than ready.

Very good news, for the "red tail" !!!!!!!!!!!

I've predicted MANY times, here on "US aviation", that no matter how bad this screwy industry gets, that the last 3 "swimmers, out of the pool", will be AA, NW and WN !!!!!!!

As far as UA goes, I was told today, that UA may NOT be able to keep it's next "obligation" to the feds.(they just recently got the feds to "rework" their last obligation")
I wish NO ill will to UA, I really don't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
however,
It's looking more and more, that UA is in a nose dive, that they cannot pull out of.

Time will tell !!

Welcome home Jen. All of you have been missed!

DTW & MSP to CDG I believe. Air France flying to Detroit makes sense. Why would NW fly from SEA to CDG? NW flies to NRT from SEA but otherwise its just another city with flights to MSP & DTW. Now this is the right use of tghe A330-200. See you at CDG.

Actually, NW flies SEA-AMS as well. SEA-CDG? Hadn't heard that one, but I'd be all for it.

Just to throw a bit more fuel on the rumor fire, we've been hearing whispers of PDX-AMS a lot lately as well.....

Welcome back, Jen! Hope the recalls affect *all* workgroups.

I have to admit that, if true, this statement worries me somewhat. When viewed in light of previous announcements, it appears that United has determined that the domestic market has become a bit of a “zero-sum game,â€￾ and is pinning its hopes for recovery on international expansion.

That being said, if these rumors are true, it is good to see that Northwest is not only responding “in kindâ€￾ by restarting DTW-Asia nonstops, but taking the battle to United as well (e.g. launching DTW-Sao Paulo; UAL has had a monopoly on Upper Midwest-Latin America for a while now). NWA’s recent entry into the SkyTeam alliance puts it in a much better position to respond to United’s moves as well.

Guess your source isn't very knowledgeable. United is in Ch 11 but they didn't get the ATSB loan. No "obligation" to the "feds".

I dont believe there are any slots open for another flight to Brazil. Delta has asked for the remaining open slots not used by UAL to start ATL-GIG.

I think NWA may have applied for them a while ago, but never used them. I could be wrong, of course.
