OK, we have all of the unions onboard except for the IAM and management got the concessions they needed ( OK, I know, I know, we've heard that before but gimme a sec). What happens now?

Boeing Boy says that the outlook seems grim and USA320 says we will have a very low CASM making us competitive with the other LCC. What needs to happen now that the labor negotiations are conclueded (or almost, or just suppose they are soon.....I know IAM has not agreed yet)

What additional efficiencies need to implemented? What other changes are coming? Any guesses as to what will happen (or needs to happen) to lead us to profitability (short of a miracle, 1$ a barrel oil, and the diabolical plot to take control over callers minds with inane hold music in res)?

I was hoping to see some debate and comparison between the two view points of we can succeed and the more dire expectations that some people have...

Jim's already said what's needed.

More utilization of everything. Max it out. Whatever you have left over that's not being used, you sell or stop leasing.

That's the bottom line. If you can't or won't do that, stop throwing good money after bad and shut the doors.

ok the company knowns what is needed to be done to make it work. They showed that it can work, just have to get more to do it. We laid half of the work force off and let the other half work for free see, it will work!! 😀
the best thing is those who are getting paid to work and think about getting sick, remember you to can join the free work group because you will be fired.

when is the BIG E going to say "U DID IT THERE WAY"

remember, keep working because there is still some gold in their planes

The thing they need is revenue and lots of it. If fuel prices stay in the low to mid 40's per bbl and fares stabilize then they might have a fighting chance but I'd be willing to bet there is going to be some sort of transaction announced whereas the place is split up in more ways than a gymnast can contort.

What US Airways needs more than anything else is one, cohesive, all-inclusive strategy, which can be implemented. Some claim that the Transformation Plan is it... But so far, the Transformation Plan seems to leave a lot to be desired.

IMO, I think part of the transformation plan is to completely change the image and name of this Airline. Makes sense when you think about how they want to make this a LCC, who in their right mind would still want to fly US after all the bad publicity we've had over the past year or so? And how do you make this Airline work with the same ole image that has dragged us down for years? Kind of makes you wonder if this blitz to destroy the Airline in the media and by our management isn't all part of the plan. Why would management be working soo hard to put into place all of these new agreements by the Unions for nothing?

Yes.... that's sounds likely.

Or as another poster stated, a wholesale re-branding of the airline, as though, US Airways liquidates its brand.
