NW BK exit plan approved/May 31st set as exit date.

To tell ya the truth KEV, I see this (now) as "Crunch Time", meaning BIG RED is the last legacy to come out of BK, add in a democratic controlled Washington DC(which means ABSOLUTELY NO mergers or acquisitions), so the remaining carriers will be in a Survival of the FITTEST mode.
Sadly I feel, 1 or even 2 carriers may fall, and believe me, I HOPE IT DOES'NT happen !!!!!!!!!
I hate to say this(I REALLY DO), because of many good people at these airlines, but if I was with LCC or even UAL, I be "on edge".
Oddly, these are the only known advocates of M/A's.

Time will tell, and again, I hope for the best(for all)

i have to agree here with you nhbb. i kno that things at us aint going to well due to p!$$ poor mgmt

Right "robbed", LCC was a no-brainer(choice).

But the reason I mentioned UAL was for several reasons.

One thing, is that their total value is about th same as NW's, HOWEVER, they have a MUCH bigger overhead, their LHR dominance(like AA's) is NOT as valuable since open skies, they failed to make a profit last qtr(when everyone else did, Tilton does NOT know how to run a day-to-day operation(he's a M/A specialist).

I HATE LIKE HEL* to even come close to give Dougie Stealin' what may sound like a compliment, but if he's smart, he can take his new Compass regional airline, and build a mini-A/E(therefore $hitcanning the Mesa/Mesaba/pinnacle's)

I've maintained that over the years, AMR's most dangerous/deadly weapon was/is American Eagle.

"It" could work WONDERS for NW(Compass with a fleet of new EMB-170/190's)
I see USAir's EMB 170/175, on a daily basis, and I've got to tell you, that from a distance, it looks like a A-319, Plus the passengers like it(It has F/C in it)

Stealin' could easily replace all the DC-9's with EMB-190's, and crew them for ($)"peanuts"

Back to UAL. They have a "hodge podge" of regional flying.

Trust me, there's a GOOD reason AA NEVER sold Eagle.

Sorry to be rambling back and forth, but I really think I may be onto something here, although, my fellow posters will be the judge of that !!

true. i must say that the US EMB 190s actually have 11 first and 88 coach. Republic/Chautauqua flies the 170s and 175s but i dont think it has F/C I do agree that something is going to happen but it is a matter of time i think. i always thought Tilton couldnt run an airline. thanks for the info

US may have its problems, but it has learned you actually can shrink to profitability and the profits prove that todays customer only think with the lowest ticket price offered. On the other hand, UA has chosen the opposite of US and are STILL bleeding money. The question for NWA? Which direction will you go service wise. And please don't point out labor unrest as a US downfall because if that issue were to be take in account, NWA would had been history a long time ago. That's not a cut to NWA...just the reality that all here have seen thru these threads and the press.

LCC #1,

You have a point.

If ANY airline has "9 Lives", it's US.(Despite the PHL fiasco + Parker, US does still make $$$.)

I just wonder, IF/WHEN(under these circumstances), US's luck finally runs out.

(I have NO desire to see anyone at US suffer) !!!!!!!!!!
