They are moving on to better careers. The AMT career in the US has been killed by business models that charge absurdly low fares that has forced companies to outsource to hack companies and hire hack mechanics that will work for peanuts.

If I had 'friends' like you, I would never need an enemy!

Dont believe the hype.

Our career has been destroyed by greedy corporations and corrupt unions like the TWU and IAM.

I do agree with your statement but the scab mechanics are also a problem.
If a "mechanic" will work for $7.00/hr then that is what companies will pay.The major AIRLINES and corporate America are going to drive down the wages until they can no longer get people to the job. Then they will send the work to China.

It looks like we have 2 problems at work here: people willing to work for dirt cheap wages and the greed of the CEO's and management.

Something is bad wrong with corporate regulations when the person[CEO] who can most affect the stock prices and really knows the financial condition of the company receives most of his/her compensation with stock options.

What people are willing to work for depends on many factors.

People will sell themselves into slavery if that the only way they can feed their families.

Its not the goal of corporate leaders and their puppets in DC to make us all unemployed, however it is their goal to have us work for less.

You guys just do not get it do you? If a person is working for $7.00 an hour a $10.00 an hour job looks like a lot of money. If that person grew up in poverty or just not as well off as others and has been struggling through A&P School for the past two years flipping burgers, $18.00 an hour looks like a small fortune. When you have established your career in a job that a lot of people can basically walk off the street and do, then you join a union that inflates the pay for that job, you are looking for a huge disappointment at the end of the road. There is a basic rule of thumb that says "The more education you have the more money you will make, the less education you have the less money you are going to make." So if you guys want to get your pay up to the level that you want it to be instead of bashing the company your unions should be hammering the FAA to make it mandatory that all mechanics must have an A&P to work on any commercial aircraft. Then the real A&P mechanics will have good paying jobs that are determined by supply and demand instead of what a union can steal.

Oh...That would never work though because over half of you wouldn't have a job.
