I posted this else where and I want to see how the Christians on the board feel about the 1st amendment.  Do you really beleive in it or is it just something used when there is a war on Christmas?

Christian Post

A Satanic religious group has expressed an interest in erecting a monument next to a Ten Commandments display in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The New York-based Satanic Temple recently declared an interest in doing this, with spokesman Lucien Greaves writing a letter to Oklahoma officials about his group's intentions.

Greaves also told officials that the reason he should be able to build a monument to Satan in Oklahoma City is because of the Ten Commandments display, privately funded by State Rep. Mike Ritze, being allowed.
"He's helping a satanic agenda grow more than any of us possibly could," said Greaves, adding that, "You don't walk around and see too many satanic temples around, but when you open the door to public spaces for us, that's when you're going to see us."

This is a perfect example of how religious zealots do not understand how the COTUS works.  If you make an exception for one group as was obviously done for the folks who wanted the 10 Commandments in public property then you have to do it for everyone.  The courts have already invalidated displays like this all over the country.  Why OK thinks they are immune to the law is beyond me.

I think it will be interesting to see whether the good folks in OK are going to allow the Satanic monument to stand beside their 10 Commandments or if they will back down and pull the 10 Commandments.  They cannot have it both ways and the argument that there is no Satanic history in our country holds about as much water as a strainer.  Would they use that argument for the Mormons as well?

One member of the state Senate said that the Satanist are just nut jobs and not a real religion.  I have yet to see how he will defend that legally.  It does clearly show his religious bias and lack of understanding about how the law works.

You would have thought someone would have brought a case before a court or something.  I am guessing that this is just another one of your unsubstantiated opinions or do you actually have any case law to back up your opinion?

Lots of people violate the law every day.  So even if Obama has violated the COTUS can you site any legal statute that says if he did, anyone else can?  Try using that line of reasoning the next time you get pulled over for speeding.  "But officer, other cars were speeding."  May be it will work for a homicide case.  "But your honor, other people have committed murder."  Given the ease of that defense you should be able to provide several examples of case law without any difficulty.

More on the issue.  Do you support the right of the Satanic group to have their monument or do you reject their argument?

Friday, the United States Court of Appeals brought the president back to Earth and reminded him that that the Constitution's Appointments Clause and the U.S. Senate are very much part of reality by voiding three of Obama's recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board.

This is just another example of left extremism.

Separation of church and state does not mean individuals can force the government to display or not display religious symbols, it simply means the government will not unlawfully detain or execute people for following their religion of choice.

Most of the people in this country claim the Christian faith. When you deny Christian symbolism you are denying the history, heritage, and culture of the vast majority.

I am personally getting tired of having our culture (not just religion) shredded by a bunch of "special Interest" groups.
