Not quite true. The 73G's are headed to NY, but their role is to fill in for some routes while some of the 800's will be used to backfill some mainline flying. There has been no mention of completely abandoning the 800's for the G's.

Please define '737-300G'. '73G' is the standard shorthand for 737-700, but I was not aware that DL had any of that subtype. What is a '-300G'?

The "G" stands for glass cockpit. It is a very small category within the 737 community at DL.
