This ought to make Pittsburgh employees and certainly Pittsburgh Steeler fans happy everywhere to get an Airplane in the Steeler colors to fly right along with the others. I personally think it will be an awesome looking plane. The black and gold colors are hot.

I agree, but are we going to fly the Steelers? The Eagles are flown by Delta.

The Steelers are actually flown by US, they prefer the 757 while US's other NFL customer, the Charlotte Panthers prefer the A-321.

Cheers

Airline and Five Time Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers Announce Corporate Sponsorship

TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways (NYSE: LCC - News) catches football fever with the announcement of a new partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to tailgate parties and stadium signage at Heinz Field, the Steelers will have a US Airways aircraft that will be painted with their logo and team colors later this year.

Press Release

Well it certainly is true that the steelers prefer the 757. I did get on a flight in new orleans a few years back that the steelers brought in as a charter. It was a 321 LOADED with all kinds of good stuff. It seems that the special schemes are all on 319's though. It sure would be nice to be able to charter the team around on "their" airplane. That would take zillions of dollars in planning..

In the Three Rivers Stadium days, it was always nice seeing the old US Air signs hanging from the facades when I would go to Pirates games.

Now that TRS is long gone (boo-hoo... NOT!), it's very disappointing to see the brown turd signs hanging in PNC Park plugging the flying greyhounds. At least there will be some class hanging at Heinz Field come next fall... and tailgate parties? Wonder what it will take to get to go to one of those?

Oh, and this quote from the PR...
"The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most storied franchises in sports history, not to mention one of the most popular football teams nationwide," said US Airways Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Travis Christ. "We look forward to a long partnership with the five-time Super Bowl Champions, giving Steelers fans and the citizens of Pittsburgh their very own aircraft, as well as having the US Airways name in beautiful Heinz Field."

We see he is at least capable of making some intelligent remarks without PO'ing anyone.
