One of our CHP (whom I havent seen in weeks, well I ran into him today).

He took his miles to CO,and they gave him Platinum status!

After that Dec fiasco, he's fed up.

1- Baggage problem.

2- Dirty Planes.

3- Ignorant response when contacting Corporate..

He's had enough and that was it..

SO, CCY if YOU ARE READING AND IF YOU CARE< SHOWS Your LACK
Of concern for LOYAL PASSENGERS< Get A friggin Clue.

He'll be back when he finds it near impossible to

1.) redeem points for just about any premium class trip outside the US
2.) score upgrades on *ANY* flight in the CO system.

Gordon ruined that program within months after arriving 10 years ago. We'll see if the new CEO maintains the status quo or makes the NONEpass program better for it's membership.

I had 200,000 miles and was mid-tier level back in 1998. I cashed them all in after numerous crappy experiences redeeming trips of all types. Never flew them again, never will again.

Hope they read but not holding my breath

A perfect example of the difficulty in quantifing "perceived value".

We gain a customer (PHL) because of a perceived lack of value with the CO product. We lose a customer (Golden's contact) because they perceive (at least for now) that CO offers better value.

I was a CO Gold back when that was their top tier, and then a Platinum when they moved to the new system. During my years flying with CO (1994-2001) I rarely sat in coach. Gordon's move to CEO coincided with significant improvements in the program until about 1999 or so. Then it started going downhill. I stopped doing business with them when 2001 ended.

I rarely had trouble cashing in the miles, including getting RT for two on the Concorde.

Golden,

I truly believe that your US1 will be back. As PHL said, I do not think CO is anything special, especially now. I had some colleagues who traveled on them recently who were very disappointed. They offered me Platinum status as well, and since they only have one flight a day to/from ISP, I politely declined.

That said, the cracks are beginning to show here too. There are a good number of US1's who are beginning to get somewhat disillusioned with what's going in here. It doesn't mean that there will be a mass defection right now, but the future is by no means certain.

Among my friends and colleagues, I know of one US 1 who is already 1/3 of the way back to Platinum on DL. He saved about $1300 in two weeks of travel over what US quoted him.

Others resent being forced to use kiosks, which are not that reliable. We "road warriors" prefer to deal with PEOPLE. If you take away the choice, there's a lot to lose.

The bottom line for me at least, is that you people are still the finest this industry has to offer, and my loyalty is based on you, not the product (or lack thereof) you have to offer. It will take more than one issue to get me to consider a change. I am by no means fickle, but I am looking for some serious improvements from operations etc. in the near future.

Thank you to those of you who have stuck with it, and continue to be there for us, your customers.

My best to you all....

Art,

Here's hoping that you'll see some positive changes soon - Lord knows you and others have been patiently waiting.

On another note, my last trip I had two different gate agents comment about what I presume was your (FFOCUS) goodwill tour. They'd had a FFOCUS member give them a business card and a bag of treats. I don't need to tell you that they appreciated the thoughtfulness.

Jim

Jim and Coach,

Thanks for your kind words. I am glad what we are doing is being noticed. I have been pleasantly surprised when I give my card and some goodies to an agent or club rep, they already know of us, and in one case someone showed me a colleague's card. Believe me we would like to do more to help.

For those who have ideas on what else we can do or would like to bring anything to our attention, please feel free to PM me or any of my FFOCUS colleagues, or visit our web site www.ffocus.org and email one of us under the CONTACT US link.

Thanks to all of you......

I'm another US1 who went to a different airline (NW). I flew US again in December on an A-class fare. After the outbound, I called res and changed the return to a UA codeshare flight in A-class. I purposely paid A to get First, and what I got on US was embarassing, especially after getting used to what NW offers.

I want to come back, but it's hard to justify given US's schedule to SEA is so poor.

Here is a current US1 (for like a week or so, at which point I'll be US2). I'm going to be relocating from GLA to the RDU area (spending weekends in AVL).

I see a disturbing trend out of RDU--mainline to PHL, or an RJ to PIT or CLT (the former of which now has been decimated for connections). What do do?

The gofare thing has apparently not made it to RDU (US wanted $600 or so for a Friday departure from RDU on short notice, everybody else wanted $250-350, and everyone's RJs are equally ugly).

Right now, US is showing me no reason (fares, upgrade shots, anything) to renew loyalty (outside of the great staff at RDU, including the club folks). As usual, CCY is doing their best to yack on a perfectly viable market, much of which probably still recalls the good old days. It's enough to make me want to scream (to be fair, I "grew u p" on US in PIT and MDT).

Welcome to my neck of the woods, Clue.

PHL... if you are from that city then I understand your low expectations of airlines.

Until recently Amtrak ran a program whereby you could 'launder' your miles, say from CO to UA via Amtrak.

Crazy eh? But true.

I read about a fellow in LHR (a destination I don't think serviced by Amtrak) who massaged his CO ff miles to UA.

Wonder how JakeBrace will explain this one to his potential exit financiers....
