The Benton County Sheriff's deputy was on a flight from Phoenix to Seattle in early June when a passenger became unruly during the final descent. The man was struggling with flight attendants and jumped up to open a door above the right wing of US Airways Flight 78.
His girlfriend, Gwen Scott, tapped the 33-year-old's leg, repeatedly telling him, "Don't get involved."
