US Airways stock hits all-time low

Charlotte Business Journal

US Airways Group Inc. stock closed Tuesday at an all-time low.

The airline's shares fell 6.7 percent to close at $19.22 per share, down from Monday's closing price of $20.61 per share.

The stock debuted on Sept. 29, 2005, at $20.40 a share after US Airways merged with America West Airlines. The stock enjoyed steady growth throughout late 2005 and 2006, peaking at more than $63 a share in late 2006.

The stock has struggled throughout 2007, and it marked a new low at $18.50 per share in trading Tuesday.

Arizona-based US Airways (NYSE:LCC) operates its largest hub at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. The carrier has struggled with customer service issues all year, ranking No. 1 among major U.S. airlines in customer complaints through the first three quarters of 2007.

The airline also revealed this week in a company newsletter that it expects about 60 percent of flights to arrive on time over the Thanksgiving holiday.
