The thing is, I do very much sympathise with the situation of the AMFA strikers. Strikebreakers do harm the union movement and get involved in a situation that really has nothing to do with them.

However, you guys must have seen the writing on the walls with strikebreaker training, constant chatter about Ch11 and mounting losses. NW has screwed you over, you couldn't win this one. Wouldn't it have been better to take one, and then when things improve take some of those concessions back?

again i sympathize with AMFA, but the U.S. National labor Relations Act. spells out the rights of strikers and all these thuggery tactics are not in it. IMHO I feel that informational picketing at the airports where Northwest Flies,padding the pockets of Politicians and acting like skilled professionals is a much better approach

Ted Ludwig, president of the union, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Organization Local 33, said the union considered the beefed-up police presence a "positive thing." He said he hopes police would intervene in the event that Vance International Inc., a security firm hired by Northwest, tries to incite violence.

"Their goal is to get our (picketing) permits pulled," Ludwig said in reference to Vance.

Oakton, Va.-based Vance, owned by SPX Corp., lists on its Web site "labor unrest protection" as one of its services.

Hogan confirmed that Northwest had hired Vance. A Northwest spokesman declined to comment on the question, and a call to Vance was not returned late Monday afternoon.

Sorry, but picketing at someone's house is no better than pro-lifer's harassing women walking out of an abortion clinic or staff who work at one.

I may not agree with abortion, but I don't have the right to harass someone for exercising their legal right to have or perform one.

Had NWA locked out the workers, I'd be more sympathetic to the strikers on the issue of replacements. But they weren't locked out -- they chose to walk off the job and stay out.

What on Earth makes you think that SCABS have any rights at all? Do you think that once a SCAB leaves the airport his/her morals return? Do you think that the putrid stench of urine and vomit that engulfs a SCAB goes away when they pull up into their driveways? (That's if they even have a driveway.) Well the answer is NO!

The proud men & women striking are doing EXACTLY what they should do and EXACTLY what SCABS, NWA & you do not want them to do... and that is bring the battle to the SCABS & NWA.

I love the pictures of the strikers picketing SCABS homes. I would certainly want to know if a SCAB is in my neighborhood just like I want to know if there are any child molesters in my neighborhood. You see, BOTH are forms of vile life that should be shuned and avoided like, well, like SCABS & childmolesters.

As for the hired goons at NWA how pathetic a life can you have? (Other than being a SCAB or child molester that is.) "Gee, I get to carry a radio and wear black? Hey, I'm in, where do I sign." PATHETIC!
