Pilot gave the shirt off his back to passenger

Not to question the heroic actions of any of the crewmembers, responders, or passengers, but...

There were two non-rev pilots in the back, one of whom works for Colgan Air. An acquaintance of mine who also flies for Colgan mentioned that one of those pilots gave his shirt to a passenger in distress.

Note the epaulets. Those are the old-style wide silver braids, that many regional partner pilots still wear, not the tacky thin-braid, valet parking attendant type that mainline pilots wear now. So it's possible that is the Colgan pilot's shirt in the photo.

(If that is F/O Skiles's shirt, he's probably going to be fired for uniform violation.)

So once again, the media may have gone with the "never let the facts..." M.O. for which they are so famous.

Remember when 5050 crashed at LGA, and the entire world saw a published wire service photo of "the pilot" -- which just happened to be a jumpseating Pan Am pilot, resplendent in white hat and all?
