Delta, Northwest pilots approve joint collective bargaining agreement

ATLANTA (AP) -- Pilots at Delta Air Lines Inc. and Northwest Airlines Corp. have approved a joint collective bargaining agreement. Ratification has been a key element of Delta's efforts to achieve a smooth integration of the two companies when it acquires Northwest later this year.

Delta's pilots union issued a memo detailing the results Monday, the deadline for rank-and-file pilots of both airlines to vote.

The agreement covers roughly 12,000 pilots of the two airlines.

Looks like the DAL pilots weren't too happy.

It's the ususal: DAL says jump and the MEC says how high and the pilot group sits there with popcorn and watches the show. What else is new. Should be entertaining come Nov 20. Now where's my popcorn????

It will get ratified... When the DL group sees that they, and their families, get S1A priority on all their non-rev travel they will overlook anything else.

Are the other Delta employees receiving S1A priority on all their non-rev travel?

Only if you are the GA!

So let's get this right.

The Delta employees that do not have a direct relationship with management are going to receive a 5 percent pay raise in 2009 followed by 4 percent annual raises from 2010 through 2012, S1A flight passes, and a 3.5 percent in equity in the combined company.

The Delta employees that do have a direct relationship with management are going to receive a 4% equity stake in the combined airline.

Wow! This "direct relationship" with Delta management seems flawed!

Well you are right it WAS ratified ..yesterday. The passes that you refer to are a question to me. Would you be referring to passes to crew members that are for commuting to work if they were to loss their bid because of base closures if they happen? Those passes are only good for TO work not home and only for the employee not the family member. Only 4 per month and not a positive seat ..so for commuting they are not worth much . I get them now and have never used them. You maybe referring to part of the payed move agreement. In that agreement the affected employee gets passes to INVESTIGATE new housing near his or her new base but not for non rev travel.

That would be the 60% that also voted for George W(weak brained) Bushwacked a SECOND TIME!

(that simply DON'T GET IT!) That's it...just keeping going, you'll find the cliff edge soon enough.

I'm sure you are not forgetting the 82% of the NWA pilots waiting for them at the cliff.

Woah is this true?

Pilots and their family will get S1A priority.

If this is the case will they really drop the NW nonrev heirarchy where HQ employees are above line workers?

Did the two groups agree on how to merge their seniority lists under this contract or is that a separate issue? If so who knows how they did it. Date of hire was a problem for the DL side but throw enough money at anyone and people forget what differences they had.

They've agreed to have a period where they will try to come up with a combined list. If by the end of that period they do not have one they will go into binding arbitration. The key though is that they have already agreed on the 3 members that will make up the arbitration panel.

The relative size of both pilot groups make a USAPA scenario very unlikely.

I'm still hoping the S1A thing was just a joke and that their families will not turn into nonrev royalty.

No. Goes to a 3 judge panel with 12 days of testimony. Written list published on Nov. 20. That is if negotiations are not successful by midnight tonight. However both party's can still negotiate until Nov. 19

It is someone that miss interpreted the policy. It is only for crew members that are commuting to work if their base is closed. Only until you move and limited to 4 per month employee only. Limited family passes to investigate new base if planning to move not for non rev travel. At DL all employees are on the same priority for non rev travel .
