It seems there has been movement on behalf of the pilots that they are offering a deal to the company to preserve their pensions and get their money back. A while back I had posted that I had a conversation with a pilot who said that AA should outsorce more work and ground employees so his pension would be saved.

Well it seems that is the position of the APA. The APA leadership has approached the company and basically stated that they would support any and all outsourcing from the ramp people to the aircraft maintenance. They basically said they are the most valuable employees and would do "whatever necessary" to perserve their pay and benefits and most of all their pensions.

Of hearing this news, I first thought it was just a rumor. But when I think back about 5 years or so, it was this same pilot union that wanted a boarding priority in non rev travel over all other employees because they were pilots.

AAny AA pilots care to respond?

I would not doubt it as displayed by the attitudes of some pilots. Look what the UA pilots just tried to do to the other UA employees. I have read or heard somewhere that the APA is considering an ESOP to buy AA. If they think they are the most valuable employees, then all other employees should just walk out and we will see how valuable they really are. If they try to screw us THEN SHUT IT DOWN PERMANENTLY! Non-pilot employees will lose a lot less than they will. I am sick of their arrogant pompous attitude. And I also remember when they wanted a higher non-rev classification just because they were pilots.

if they are crazy----and wish to starve and pee their pants while in flight-
than so be it-
hope this is all true speculation...........................................................

All right folks just be calm now, starting rumors, especially as bad as this one, won't help anyone. Believe it when you hear it.

I'll put this to rest when the APA responds!

The APA actually tried to insource work to AA, but APFA and TWU weren't interested, and negotiations ended 1 May 04. Care to answer that one?

If you haven't noticed, a whole lot of pilot jobs have been outsourced...a number due to the recalcitrant stance of TWU and APFA on flying "they didn't want". I think that was a good lesson on the value of "labor coalitions". How about you worry about your own contract and let the pilots worry about theirs.

Excuse me Mr big MD80 driver. You probably look sweet in your new leather jacket.

It is your kind that get on the company frequencies and complain that APU's are left running when you arrive at your aircraft. Last week with freezing temperatures, the APU was left on to run the packs so the cleaners could clean the aircraft and the caters could cater it and not freeze their yams off. The Captain went on and on and on about the fuel being wasted.

THAT IS THE SELF SEVING SELFISH CRAP I AM REFERRING TO, MR. BIG MD80 DRIVER!

Too bad thepilots never got non rev boarding priority over the rest of us lowly airline employees. you would have looked so sweet at the front of the line in your new leather flight jacket!

SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

By the way, TOM CRUISE, the last time the pilots had balls and supported another
union was at EASTERN AIRLINES to defy the great dictator, Frank Lorenzo!

They knew all employees had their heads on the chopping block. They put their careers on the line. THOSE WERE PILOTS, MY BOY.

Typical AA pilot BS. When have they ever cared about anybody but themselves?

In 1997, just before their 2 and a half minute faux-strike, while they were fighting for superior non-rev privileges for themselves and for their extended/multiple families, they wanted the other employees to wear "Scope" pins, to support keeping the flying at AA, while, in negotiations, they told the company they didn't care who worked the cabin or serviced the plane, as long as the pilots were AA/APA. What a joke. When a pilot offered me a pin, I told him where to stick it.

So, It would appear that you're just trolling for a fight. I'll put you on my ignore list from now on.

p.s. I'm just finishing a two year military activation, so please excuse me if I don't get terribly concerned about APUs running or leather jackets.

Let's hear from Mr. MD80driver.

By the way MrMD:80driver:

Think about planes being outsourced to Mexico and ASIA and South America that is so lax and in anti American environments. Now think about one of these foreign workers who just got a big payoff from a terrorist group to place an " explosive device" somewhere on the aircraft to be detonated at a later time.
Never mind the US jobs lost to outsourcing, have you ONCE thought about the minimum security repair stations?

But hey, you have a leather jacket!

Yes, right. You post ridiculous assertions about AA/APA's pilots and their concern about insourcing work for other employee groups, and then tell others they are trolling for a fight.

Enjoy that IGNORE feature and go throw your temper tantrums elsewhere.

I suppose only pilots are the only ones to be commended for serving in the reserves.

Good point. I remember when the Continental pilots crossed the mechanics picket lines, only to find themselves on the same picket lines later, when their time came.

It's the old "divide and conquer". Some people never learn.

Can you be more specific on how the APA tried to insource work for the other groups because I have never heard of it? Also, could you explain what flying the APFA and TWU did not want (hard to believe these unions would not want more dues paying members) and how these two non-pilot unions would have any say over management decisions? And finally you sound just like the pilots at UA on the UA board, they tried to get as much as they could for themselves (by selling their "A" plan for $550,000,000) at the expense of the other groups' pensions (the contigency clause in the ALPA TA). The other groups are concerned for their own contract because APA wants to preserve and substantially increase their pay and pensions well above pre 9/11 levels by just getting rid of the other employees completely.

All sounds like an internet myth fabricated and posted to draw a reaction.

As far as the UAL TA goes, what's wrong with linking pension concessions to an everybody or nobody protocol. I think there's some very very bad things about to happen to UAL employees.
