First - you can only claim the "and a half" portion of time and a half. My kids base pay was $38.50 and overtime was $57.50, but of that, she can only claim $19 per hour. After all her overtime was factored in, she could claim $4,000. It bumped her refund by a thousand dollars, which is nice, but if you had visions of your taxable income being reduced with all that overtime that wasn't taxed, you might be disappointed....and with all that sweet overtime, you might have worked your way into a higher tax bracket.
Second, even if the "and a half" part comes out to $20k, you can only claim $12.5k unless you are married.
