Listen to how important our jobs are in this conversation over the radio. Too bad the company and the TWU did not seeus the same way in negotiations.

Funny though how $74K sounds like a lot of money to a guy who make millions acting like a thirteen year old kid on the radio.

Getting respect from the likes of Howard Stern,...boy isn't that the shi*!,..... Shows how much our management thinks of us when the king of "sleeze" gives us our props.

Question, how much would a mechanic at AA want? Lets say AA management pushed a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the other union labor groups and said, "Write down how much you want, what benefits you want, etc. and you got it". But, here is the catch, management will make the same amount, and if AA is losing money after 2 years, we will compare their revenues and other costs to the highest and lowest in the industry respectively, if with the highest revenue numbers and lowest costs AA would have made money, then AA management gets the ax cause they could not generate sufficient revenues and reduce "non-labor" costs. But if not, AA management then gets the blank contract and they get to impose ANY terms they want on you.

Fair? Best way to find out what will work.

Cheers,

Parity +1 Blended Carrier Rate from Comparison Carriers

AA already got that, both in 2003 and 2012 and all it cost them was an enhanced pension for a handful of guys, some A-5 passes and agreeing to put Dons pals on UBI with some other extras.

Who would be the comparison carriers? Would there also be parity on scope?
Scope, please, Luby scoffed at Scope, said we had system protection and all we needed to do was roll it up each contract. the only real Scope protection we have is that we priced our labor so low its not cost effective to outsource more than 35% of the work we do.

OS wants to know what the scope would be, he feels that we have something good there. lets see, we have limits on how much they can outsource where we work a week or more for free than pretty much anybody else, I've never heard of any job where you didnt get at least two weeks of vacation, you get to work all the Holidays and in return for working 80 hours of Holidays that most people get paid to be off you get 20 hours pay, you get half the sick time that most get and a lower wage. We dont need to protect jobs like that. we need protections from allowing jobs to get like that!!

Hey Bob. Our scope must be so good that it's worth giving away paid sick time (mechanics only), longevity pay (mechanics only) a second week of vacation (mechanics and fleet only) 5 holidays, and the lowest wage in the entire airline industry. Good thing they can only outsource 35% of a phantom cost number that the company can minipulate to get any kind of figure they want. We are so lucky to have the TWU looking out for us. Work rules???? Who needs em.
TWU is shrewd. I never knew that giving away pay and benefits to save more low paying jobs was the way to go. I always thought unions got the skilled people better pay and used that to motivate the unskilled to get educated and qualified. TWU punishes the skilled groups while rewarding the unskilled with extra pay and benefits that are not negotiated for skilled groups. And just in case the skilled have an idea on how to get something that is deserved, there is the classic "Me Too" clause that prevents them from getting raises to get closer to industry standard without the unskilled (already above industry standard) from getting the same raise. But we have scope. Good thing huh?

Maybe we need to try Listerine instead?
