I'm quite excited to get one of the ME3's on board. I also believe Qantas should've worked with QF rather than EK. Oh well.

The Middle East airlines can't be ignored.... whether they add long-term value to the alliances or suck away their passengers remains to be seen.

Doesn't matter to me, all middle east emirates-based carriers are a dime-a-dozen ...

But it is a nice addition to 1-world. Although I was a little surprised that it wasn't Etihad joining given they already own 30% of AB.

I think BA and to a smaller degree IB, and AY might be more concerned than AA about QR sucking away passengers ... ... ...

without a doubt....the threat is greatest to the Euro carriers followed by the older Asian carriers.

These Middle East based carriers are very smart, well-funded and have good managers.

Also they have some of the larges airplane orders and most-modern fleets.

I would not make fun of them.

whatkindoffreshhell i agree with you most if not all of the mid east airlines are well run im not sure about middle east airlines but the other 3 carriers qatar eithihad and emirates are very well run not sure how their service is but the other day there was an article that i think it was etihad air or emirates is beginning a nanny service on board the plane

EY if anything is more along the Skyteam camp. That being said, they seem to want to sign various dealings with "strategic" carriers. Its a bit different than the norm, we'll see how it pans out.

It is BA which has sponsered QR. Maybe BA/OneWorld felt there is some synergy. QR serves many "regional" ME routes as well as many other routes that as of now no OneWorld carrier serves which QR serves or is going to serve in the future.
