Question for the Pilots

your right, captain. But agreements don't mean both parties really want what they agree to but they know that what they have to do is really minimize losses. Face it, the airline unions had their heyday in the 90s and it's now managements turn to get everything they can. The fact that there are thousands of airline employees on the street and ready to come to work does little to strengthen labor's case. If labor was as powerful as it said it is, then why have so many carriers been able to gut their employee costs during the past few years? Face it - labor has no strength and the DL pilots will cave like just like the dozens of other airline labor groups that have caved in the past five years.

WT,
I WILL agree with you that the management/union "score" is something like "5 out of 5" in favor of management(s)!

Are you saying that DL management is a "sure bet" to go "6 for 6" ???????

I offered a scenario a few posts ago about "russian roulette"

Are you saying DL is ABSOLUTELY going to "spin the barrel, put the gun to it's head, cock the hammer, AND PULL THE TRIGGER"(Throwing DALPA'S contract out the window), because DL KNOWS they can't LOSE ??

Is THAT WHAT YOUR SAYING World Traveler ???

NH/BB's

what is the dilemma concerning contact termination and striking? True a PEB can stop a strike under the Railway Labor Act but how can it be governed by such regulations if it is no longer extant? Be careful of what you ask for because the lack of a contract allows the workers no limitations on their actions it seems to me.

NHBB,
DL has had the opportunity to get rid of all of DL's employees except for the pilots 'cause they aren't protected by a union. But they haven't which perhaps says that they will be competitive but they aren't vindictive to their employees. Their unions, on the other hand, might be an entirely different matter. The further ALPA pushes, the greater the retribution. Have you considered the possibility that DL might bust its pilots to poverty wages but keep the rest of its employees at competitive wages just to prove the point about what a union will get?

I am not a pilot or employee of Delta but I have flown with with Delta a lot. A friend of mine who works at Delta said he did not think Delta pilots would strike because being a Delta Pilot and the possibility of shutting Delta down would not look good on a resume.
