I'm returning from a 14 month furlough. Before I left I was a straight lineholder. Now I'll be on AB rotation and pretty sure I'll be on reserve every other month.

Before I left if a reserve wanted to fly fewer hours they bid "Ready". Is this still the case? From what I've been reading on this DB it sounds as though the reserves are being flown into the ground. But is there one or the other that does fly less? Even a little that you noticed?

Thanks, and see you in November.

I only fly Call In reserve out of SFO and I get the best trips and I average 80 hrs a month flight time. I know everyone complains about being flown to death, but I'm just not seeing it. Maybe I'm just really lucky, but it seems good for me!

I love Call In. I do get Stand By's once in a while, but I also go to bed at night knowing what's up for the next day which is invaluable. The stuff I've been flying over the past six months has just been incredible!

In the past six months I've done two London's, two Osaka's, two Seoul's, a Shanghai, a Frankfurt and Beijing! I've had a couple of one day trips (island turns which I love since they're so high in time). I've also flown a little domestic but it's all been great stuff... long layovers in ORD, IAD and BOS. What's not to love??

FA4UA,
Thanks for your response. 80 hours I can deal with although I'm used ot 67 or 68 from the old shuttle days!
I'm based in LAX and the int'l flying is not as much or as varied as SFO. Even so I think you may convince me to bid reserve even during my line months if the lines are as bad as people make them sound.
I'm glad it's worked out for you. It's nice to hear something/someone positive.
Thanks again.
