Ever heard of Choicepoint, Boomer? We're already exposed, whether we want to be or not.

It's interesting that you give this a political spin, particularly when the link had nothing to do with the so-called Patriot Act. It's about private corporations collecting and selling information on consumers without their approval.

Is the idea that your private personal information isn't a commodity for others to buy and sell really just for Liberals?

NWA-AMT,

You couldn't have understood the reference to the Patriot Act, liberals and my post because it was contained within the text of the e-mail containing the link; I should have written my post better before throwing it up.

The points raised regarding the collection of all types of data "entered" into proposed "security" databases touches on aspects of the Patriot Act, the creation of massive federal databases and the handling of personal traveler information from various airlines to the government during the creation of those databases.

As far as protecting personal rights and securing individual liberties, I find that the ends of both the left and right spectrums to be so convoluted that I trust neither. But, convolution coming, the existence of both ends serves me because they serve as social oscillation dampeners preventing a blowout by either side.

As one of those who had their personal information sold by Choicepoint to identity thieves pretending to be a real business, I can tell you that this is a much worse problem than most people think. I never gave Choicepoint permission to collect that information, nor to sell it to others - because there are NO laws governing such 'data mining'.

Say what you want about politics, but it weren't for those 'lefties' out in California and their laws requiring that potential abuses like that be reported by companies like Choicepoint, I never would have even known about it.
