Can a US East Flight Attendant explain to me how a Reserve can be out of time on the 4th of the month in a holiday month? This F/A only has 15+00 hours how is this possible? Please explain to me because I have 20+00 hours and would love to call out of time now if I can! hehe

The f/a that you are refering to works for the AFA. They get credited hours daily for the work in the office. Although those hours are computed daily, he has enough hours by months end to be out of time. I guess the union is very busy right now.

It is interesting that the other reserve who is AFA isn't O/T and that the days are credited daily. So it doesn't make any sense how they can be out of time now. I guess I will have to call Labor Relations and get a response to this one.

Maybe they have VAC as well????? I am lost on this on then. :blink:

The only possible way a reserve at Ueast can be o/t on the 4th day of the month is if they had enough vac days to give them about 70hrs and flew maybe a fat 4 day to get them to 85. Even if they work in the AFA, those days are credited daily, not monthly, that would not explain being o/t on the 4th of the month. Good for them enjoy turkey day!
 
I know the Flight Attendant to whom you are referring, and let me just tell you...this person definitely earns their time, and spends far more hours at AFA than they actually are paid for. In all my years so far with US Airways, I've never seen any AFA member that was more committed to assisting the Flight Attendants as much as possible (even when it's not always deserved by a few that have been given more than their fair share of chances). Instead of quibbling over hours, perhaps you should be greatful that this person is fighting as hard as they do on a daily basis for YOUR JOB. Or perhaps you would prefer this person just roll over like the rest of AFA as they always have done since that's what we've all become accustomed to.

I guess hangin up on flight attendants is worth all that hard pay huh! I am not sure what all this adminstrtaion has done. I just got off a three day trip and had to hear from the flight attendants telling me they have called the office and had been hung up on from the office staff. I don't think he has done anymore work than others who have been working at the office before. I know that the company before NEVER let AFA reps reschedule their month and let them call out of time. I guess they have become more relaxed with their policies. I know that what this reserve has been doing is against what the president told flight attendants wouldn't happen. It will be interesting to see if he is going to be flying on Thanksgiving as a reserve since the Pres said she would never take Flight Attendants off line on holidays. I know I would never let this person represent me because he isn't a nice person at all and I don't trust him! I trust the Supervisors more than I do the Local 70 Reps as do many of the flight attendants! I laughed when you said how dedicated he was. The one person who was committed to AFA would be Warren Richardson and all of our EAP reps. This reserve is very hot and cold and I wouldn't say he is commited to doing AFA work I would say he is commited to just Abusing the Reserve system!

What office does he hold ...or is he just a f/a HELPING out?

I'm not going to go back and forth on this as I have to get to work and frankly, don't have the time or interest in debating this....

but I will just say that I am genuinely sorry you feel that way, as MANY F/A's would strongly disagree and say that this F/A has been a great addition and things have run better since this individual's presence. Also, you are just flat wrong if you think this person is not dedicated to helping ALL F/A's whether they've deserved another chance or NOT.

It should also be noted that one individual cannot be held accountable for EVERYTHING that may heppen in the Office. Undoubtedly, there are improvements that could be made but I'm sure that could be said of your job as well.

up to the plate where others have dropped the ball...a thankless job he has decided to undertake. This is a person who is a wonderful individual and f/a. None of you can expect one person to carry all 1500 children of the PHL base and most who whine and complain about no union reps are little crybabies who expect the world to pamper them. If you want to yell at anyone, yell at your elected locals who are worthless and not doing THEIR jobs, placing the burden on those that actually LIVE in PHL.

This person is on our wonderful (definite sarcasm) rsv system, so if you AREN'T on rsv, you REALLY need to chill!! He works what hours he must, tries to get as much done for his union work paid, and picks up etb trips to make ends meet totally 150 hrs.

So might I suggest that if anyone dislikes the job this person is doing that you take a look in the mirror and see if you have the time or ability to do the same.

I cant find his name in the officer section of the afa site.
I can find it on catcrew.

I was not complaining i was asking a simple ?........... I just like the facts before i judge, a practice many of those on here need to learn.
 
I personally know the "reserve O/T" flight attendant you are referring to... I also know you. He is doing an amazing job in the union office for our reserves. What did YOU do for reserves while you were in the office? The one time I went into the AFA office I saw your buddy list from AOL on the computer you were using- is that how YOU were helping other flight attendants... by chatting? Why aren't you in the AFA anymore? What happened?
