Restructured United May Be Merger Target

ok, this is pissing me off. no one bought no one . doug parker even said it in a past town hall meeting. there were two airlines in trouble . usairways and americawest. in between there was 900 million dollars from investors who "funded" the "merger". not aquisition ". merger" .doug even stated that usairways was the surviving entity while americawest was a subsidiary of usairways group. i heard it myself in the clt town hall meeting. so in fact the only parties that did the buying were the 900 million from the " investors". now if you guys want to discuss this more, do it in the usairways forum ,not the united forum. thank you and have a merry christmas.
We're both entitled to our own opinions.

And so...the point of the thread is? Who would UA be the merger target of? I'm thinking a foreign/'internationalist' union as the most likely. CO is interesting fodder, it looks good on paper. Just think of the 'prime time' workforce merger fun though for a minute...then reality sets in.

The whole financial world does not revolve around the self-interested, seniority minutiae that consumes most posters on this board and results in inaccurate thinking and unsupported, irrational conclusions.

Wishes are wishes. Facts are facts. Opinions are opinions. Speculation is speculation. Some people don't know the difference between wishes and facts because their brains can't distinguish them. Some do know the difference, but pretend not to.

I suppose that there is this idea of the 'magic beans' effect of the internet. It goes something like this: I'll continue to state my wish as a fact on an anonymous internet board, I'll fertilize this wish up with speculation and opinion and some related facts and maybe, just maybe, my wish will be fulfilled by the fairy god-mother (or golden-egg laying goose). On this board, some of these wishes are that bad tidings will befall others, so that some may be spared. Others wish that the industry were structured so that it is unlikely or impossible that misfortune could visit themselves.

The truth is that our economy and society (especially in the airline industry) is increasingly unstable, unpredictable and arbitrarily damaging to all working folk, including working folk called pilots.

LOL USA320 wasn't the only practioner of internet wish fulfillment, just the least skilled at hiding his wishes.

Rumor has it from good sorces in Phoenix due to the dismal outlook at United that there will be a buyout of UAL pacific routes early 2006. This financing will ensure early exit from bankruptcy and will guarantee USairways to be the world's largest low cost carrier.

Well, he had to take a few days off while he is being briefed by Herb Kelleher and Gerard Arpey on the AA-SWA merger.

That is absolutely ridiculous!! Everyone knows that both SWA and AA will be bought by U utilizing an ICT or UTC.

He can say whatever he wants. Search my username on this forum, and you will find a link to the BK filing that lists America West as the acquiring entity, and US Airways as the acquired entity.

I'm hopin' UA merges with the Yankees...at least Steinbrenner knows how to fire bad Management!
