Robert Crandall Tribute to Herb Kelleher

Hey NHBB, I hope you enjoy!

Youtube - Bob luv's Herb

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

" bravo--Bravo--BRAVO"...to both ("uncle") Bobby CRANDALL, and ol' Wild Turkey HERB !!

Hey AirLUVer, ..where did I EVER say, that I didn't like or Respect HERB ?

Well at least YOU(as a LUVer), and ME as an ex..AAer, have ALWAYS known that AA/WN have been neighbors for many Decades, and have ALWAYS had a good neighbors type Relationship.

I'd bet MY LIFE, over the years,..RLC and HERB sat down over a "libation or "5", and gave each other a "heads up" as to what the other was going to announce.

And I honestly think that HERB played a significant role..In RLC's statement(back in the early 90's..I believe) that AA would NOT chase DOMESTIC nickles + dimes, but would focus much more on Transcons/hub to hub? and International Long Haul.

I've said it a ZILLION times,......so why not a ZILLION + 1.

AA and WN will pay their respects at the..."VIEWING" of Every Other US Carrier, BEFORE there own time comes !

(GREAT JOB..."(uncle) Bobby"...........JEEZ, I Never knew you could "Tickle the Ivorys" like that)

As it IS today, it WILL BE in the long from now Future,....................CRANDALL + HERB are LEGENDS, in this Industry, that will NEVER be Equaled !!!!!!!!!!

It IS what it IS !

I know you have not said that. I singled you out, because I just knew that you would appreciate the clip more than most. I almost sent it via message directly to you, rather than a posting on the board, but then I thought that many others might enjoy the clip as well.

I think the likes of Kelleher are rare, those who have the opportunity to work under people like him are fortunate. What remains to be seen is if he was wise enough to make sure that those who follow learned from him.

Splendid! Thanks for sharing this clip.

Both Crandall and Herb are leaders who display confidence and humor, traits sorely lacking in other airline execs.

Who would you follow into battle: Crandall and Kelleher or Tilton and Anderson??

NHBB is correct. AA & WN will watch the other airlines fall.

Crandall and Herb were also in the job for 10+ years before most people showed them the respect they deserved.

I think the fact that WN continues to be profitable, culture remains intact, industry leading wages, and current management "grew up' in said enviroment seems to me that 'learning' has been accomplished

The culture is still intact? Not based on what I've seen from the last couple flights I was on...

Current management might have "grown up" under Herb, but between third and half the employees have less than 10 years with the company, and somewhere around half have probably never seen Gary Kelly in person. 15 years ago, it was hard to find a SWA employee who hadn't seen Herb in person at one point or another.

The next couple quarters at WN will be interesting to watch. There are a lot of people who have been brainwashed into believing WN could never lose money and always treats its employees better than anyone else.

The moment they start posting losses, and management has to start cutting back, let's see just how warm and fuzzy labor relations remain....
