Rupert Murdoch visits a London that's turned on him

Looks like the Murdoch empire might be in a bit of trouble.
Almost overnight, open season has been declared on Murdoch, with politicians once too afraid to criticize him now lining up to rail against the Australian-born billionaire and his vast media holdings. The effect has been of a dam bursting in a country whose people are famed for their reticence.

I knew Murdoch's troubles with his paper in the UK would give you a woody.

I'm not comfortable with that much media in anyone's hands. That goes for Cjear Channel, Gannet and the rest as well. This crap in the UK will have about the same impact as a fart in a windstorm

I am not overly concerned about him owning as much as he does. The internet has opened up the flood gates regarding information. If you do enough digging you can find information. I just love the fact that this self righteous moron is getting slapped around a bit. He is trying to cover up the scandal but it seems pretty obvious he is doing a bad job. Everything I have read so for points to him protecting his corrupt protege and screwing the 'journalist' that worked for him. The hacking of private individuals on such a mass scale is a bit disturbing. I hope they nail him.

Except that same rule doesn't apply when finding the truth about your progressive marxist socialist leader Obama?

Should we start off with operation Fast and Furious with your soon to be impeached president?

Maybe with some luck we can go back to the gov't controlled news channels on the big four if Fox goes down.

Hey,WTF.....you just can't trust those non Pravda approved channels any more.

If you look at the way news has changed from the days of Cronkite to today, it seems to me that MSM news is just for entertainment. What is not op-ed is op-ed disguised as news. Most people I talk with do not watch it or read it. The internet has a massive amount of data. You can tell the people who rely on FOX or CNN for all their info. I think their numbers are shrinking. I read them for their entertainment value, not to get real information.

No cable in the cave, dude?

News hasn't changed since the dawn of time, caveman.....its all about party affiliation and who controls the media.

So you are so entrenched with real information....how is it time after time your standard reply is " I didn't hear about that "........

Where you get real information?/ Pinchus Steinmetz's personal blog?

I watch TV for entertainment, not as a source of info.

I disagree. I think news had changed a great deal over the last 30 or so years.

We already had this discussion. When I say I had not heard of what ever it is your are rambling on about it is because I researched it and found nothing to substantiate your claim. It's because when ever I say that you have made some bizarre claim with out providing a shred of evidence to support your theory.

The problem is you don't have a clue how to search. Just because you can't find it doesn't mean its not there.

Just how powerful is the media's influence? Incalculable. When George Bush was president and the economy was chug chug, chugin' along the unemployment rate was 4.6% and the media was in full destruct mode. The horror of the unemployment rate. The outrage at the war in Iraq ....well you know the rest. Needless to say if a Republican had Obama's record he would have been exiled to Elba with the media leading the parade.

Are you arguing that the US was not justified in being outraged at the Iraq war? That the numerous changing reasons for going into Iraq were justified? Are you arguing that Bush did a great job in Afghan and Iraq? Are you saying the economy was in great shape in 2008 when the economy started to take a turn foe the worse and we all knew it was going to hit hard?

Our economy has not been 'chugging along' for decades. Sputtering on fumes perhaps but not chugging.
