"Non-Union Alabama Utility Workers Denied Entry into New Jersey!"
http://www.thegatewa...and-down-video/

Want a "Pro-Union State" NJ? Then reap what you sow!

Guess Barrack can't step in, since the peeps who rejected these Utility workers help, are the same peeps who vote for him !

Wonder if the people without electricity give a rat's ass whether a union or non-union employee gets their power back up and running ?

Dog? Care to add one of your one liners here, pointing fingers and laughing , instead of commenting on the topic ? WAIT!..............that would take more than one sentence.............nevermind !

Friggin moron. Typical of you to just take whatever some lame right wing blogger posts and run over here and post it as fact.

"Late Friday at a press conference, Hardin said the documents actually came from Electric Cities of Alabama, a coalition of the state's municipally owned utilities.

Bottom line, it appears now that Decatur Utilities wrongly assumed they would have to agree to the union contract before traveling to New Jersey to help with recovery efforts. The IBEW said in times of crisis, help is welcomed from union and non-union utility workers....

"At this stage, it is not clear who is alleged to have turned the crew away and the company that employs the affected workers has denied the claim," said IBEW President Ed Hill in a statement. "IBEW local leaders in New Jersey have reiterated what has been the long standing record of our union – in times of crisis all help is welcome and we pull together with everyone to meet the needs of the public. We have communicated this to the office of New Jersey Governor Christie as well."

The crew from Decatur Utilities attempted to look for work in other areas, but Hardin said .... they made the decision to return home after being stalled in Virginia most of the day Thursday.

Other utility crews from Alabama are still helping with storm cleanup. Huntsville Utilities said they were not turned away and are in Long Island, New York. Joe Wheeler EMC said they did not respond to New Jersey, but did travel to Maryland and headed home once they were finished."

How come you can't do anything to your property until 'part of the team' tells you you can?
Lot of people must have missed the boat on the most covered storm of the millennium wouldn't you say?
So much for prepositioned provisions.
Nobody In Coney Island, Queens, Staten island until a day ago.
Looting and such in Coney, Queens and Staten Island but Bloomberg doesn't want armed Guardsmen on the street, only NYPD.
Where's the national guard water buffalo's and meal tents? They can be brought in by helo and set up quickly but it seems they're cold and hungry still in NYC.
Katrina at least it was warm.

Looks like Big Government in many ways worked like that fateful night in Iran under Carter.
FEMA now has a police dept.?

FEMA directs the state national guard troops?

A lot of people did "miss the boat". Those are the ones now saying "I had no idea it would be this bad." This after they were told over a week before that the storm would be of epic proportions.

Now they can go back and get in line for the interest free loan from the SBA to repair the damage from flooding. The flood insurance you chose not to get because "it is so expensive". Yes, I heard that in an interview of one of those "who missed the boat".

Obama can have FEMA direct Guard Troops.

FEMA has IMO far to much power and is one reason they need to go away but not their mission.

One of the resons FEMA dropped the ball with Katrina was due to their power. Bush was reluctant to allow FEMAto over rule locl authority.

I like FEMA , BHO

They may have positions defined as "police officers" but they do not have a department that swoops in and takes over a city police department.

Is that what you are advocating? Maybe you wanted FEMA to take over New Jersey prior to the storm arriving?

Pick a position and stick with it. Is that you Mitt?

And you want them to take control of a states national guard?

I could just imagine the outcry from the right if that was done by our President.

NY Post:

Marathon canceled, but generators and supplies still sit unused in park

What a run-around!
The city left more than a dozen generators desperately needed by cold and hungry New Yorkers who lost their homes to Hurricane Sandy still stranded in Central Park yesterday.
And that’s not all — stashed near the finish line of the canceled marathon were 20 heaters, tens of thousands of Mylar “space” blankets, jackets, 106 crates of apples and peanuts, at least 14 pallets of bottled water and 22 five-gallon jugs of water.
This while people who lost their homes in the Rockaways, Coney Island and Staten Island were freezing and going hungry.
