Sen. Arlen Specter to change parties

Told the truth????......refreshing????...... After 26-30 years...whatever....He was never true to Republican Principles. I agree with Dell...You can have him....FINALLY!!!
he is not going to agree with the democratic agenda, there just is no way..over the past several months he has been making statements to the contrary! (or he was just not telling the truth!)

this is so crystal clear..he is switching because he would absolutely loose the next election, and he knows it, you know it, everyone knows it!

he is simply trying to keep his career intact (which I can understand to a degree)

but!

he is not thinking of his convictions.. he is thinking of himself.

This is nothing more than hard ball politics and if anything can be concluded..it is a shameful display of disloyalty!

He assessed his situation and determined the best path to allow him to achieve his goals.

obviously!

Don't be surprised if this doesn't happen
people need to start focusing on the individual.. if he is re-elected because of 'changing parties' it clearly shows today's voter doesn't really know.. who they are voting for in the first place (or paying attention what these politicians are doing..) they just vote party.

If you're assessment is correct perhaps we al need to build that survival shelter underground.
I dont know about that!

I do not buy into Democrat equal good and Republican equal bad..that is a simple way for someone who isnt so good to fall under the umbrella of being perceived good..

clearly some of these politicians (such as the one referenced) look what a party can do for them.. to keep them in a job rather than what they can do for the people...

No I typed that quickly and poorly.

Basically I'm a Equal Opportunity Hater of both. I just hate Republicans less than I do Democrats.

I 'HATE' no one, I'll just say change hate to 'extreme dislike'... 😛

After a week and a day as a Democrat, Mr. Specter is viewed with suspicion by his new Democratic colleagues, with general disdain by his old Republican friends, and with an odd mix of amusement and pity all around.

Piss him off,he'll defect again.

But he is having trouble fitting in. He voted against the Democrats in his first two big votes since the switch, opposing the Democratic budget and helping defeat a measure to allow bankruptcy judges to modify mortgages for troubled homeowners.

Comedy Central

Welcome to the left Arlen..... :mf_boff: :mf_boff:

Under intense analysis of his every move and utterance, Mr. Specter canceled a scheduled appearance on Wednesday night on “Larry King Liveâ€￾ on CNN.

Behind the scenes, he was scrambling to find money to save the jobs of several aides after losing the payroll authority that came with his position as senior Republican on the Judiciary Committee and various subcommittees.

Mr. Specter also issued a statement on Wednesday insisting that he would ultimately regain his seniority on Senate committees, which Democrats for now have stripped away. But there are no guarantees.
