The terminal is nice looking, but not sure how functional it will be. With a high ceiling and all the gates in the outer edge of the horseshoe, its going to make for some irritating announcements and wait to get on the mic or they will be stepping all over each other. They gave the employees a preview the other day and it looks great, functionality wise????

tadjr,
ALL the regulars here on Usaviation, KNOW that YOU are the TPA spokesperson !
(they also know I'm no fan of WN)
BUT, in fairness, I've got to call it as I see it !!
I was amazed that WN, with the present gates they have(before the move) have a wopping "25" N/S destinations out of TPA !!
ABQ,AUS, BWI,BNA,BMH,BDL,BUF, CMH, FLL, IND,ISP, JAX, LAS, MHT,MSY,MDW,MCI, PHX,PVD,PBI,PHL, RDU, STL,SDF,SAT
Now factor in the additional gates, and then what ??
Without checking the FLL N/S's, TPA might be only the 3rd busiest FL. WN airport, behind MCO, and(possibly) FLL.
No matter "how you cut it", it IS impressive, BEFORE the new gates.
On a different note,(NOT TO BURST THE WN/TPA "BUBBLE"(seriously), of all the N/S's, they only fly "1" route (each) that NW and AA fly. NW=IND, and AA=STL.
Like the "times" points out, WN is pushing some legacy's away from domestic, and into more International. BUT, again, when we look at AA + NW, It's a "non starter", as far as TPA is concerned !! (YES, I know MDW is in "Illinois")
Using a little "animal planet" analogy here, WN is like a lion right now, but NW is like a HIPPO, and AA like a RHINO. These 3 "creatures" seem to avoid each other, like "typhoid fever"!!!!!!!!
