PERSONALLY I CANT WAIT FOR SOUTHWEST TO MOVE INTO DFW THAT WAY SOUTHWEST AND THE NEW USAIR WILL PIC APART AMERICANS BUSINESS FROM HEAD TO TOE. THEY ARE A NASTY OPERATION!!!

AND THE POINT OF THIS TOPIC IS???????????????????????goodgirl37 said:NO NOT REALLY ... HOWEVER, MY COMMENT IS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM MOVE INTO DFW, JUST FOR COMPETITION.... BUT REALLY COULD CARE LESS.

It basically amounted to free rent for a year or more. Not one airline was interested. And, to quote goodgirl's original post, she said "PERSONALLY I CANT WAIT FOR SOUTHWEST TO MOVE INTO DFW THAT WAY SOUTHWEST AND THE NEW USAIR WILL PIC APART AMERICANS BUSINESS FROM HEAD TO TOE. My response had nothing to do competition--pro or con. It had to do with goodgirl stating that she couldn't wait for SW to move to DFW. Something that SW has been very clear will never happen.
Also, goodgirl has not shown a great deal of integrity. While posting here that AA is a "nasty operation", she was posting on the American Airlines forum that she had nothing against AA and in fact liked them because she was from Dallas herself.
I guess she thought that even though she can post on any forum, the American employees could only read the American forum.

Ch. 12 said:Reading between the lines...she clearly was trying to make the point that AA needs real, untethered competition in Dallas. Whatever else she posts or whatever relationship the two of you have had on these boards in the past are of no consequence to me but I do agree that AA should be able to face true competition.
I watched AA force Midway (3) out of RDU (and out of business) even though there was "plenty of space" and "sweethearts of deals" for other carriers to serve there. I also watched them do this to Legend at DAL...same situation. In both cases, they had great deals with the airport boards and local governments that precluded true competition. Same case in DFW. And if I am a long-term thinker...I know that "free rent for a year" sure only makes a difference for a year and that they will make up for it after that. Also...as AA is the largest carrier at DFW (i.e. has all of the bargaining power with the authority) they can have their way with airside usage and the delays will only further hurt competition.
Again...I totally agree with skygirl in this one that AA needs to act as a real business and face real competition...not competition held at bay by legislation.
