A reliable source said that although it was voted on earlier, there has been a change of mind and the US Air affiliation is over. Apparently the alliance was looking for a strong airline affiliation, but since U has gone to the smaller RJ setup, the * is no longer interested.

Unfortunate, if true. Remember that UAL is using the US partnership (and its membership in Star) to also boost its revenue stream, so I don''t see how this would help either carrier. Also, an east coast regional feeder is EXACTLY what Star is lacking right now! IAD just doesn''t cut it for intra east coast travel.

It''s sounding more & more like U will be replacing ACA for the east coast feed.

Thats funny fly...like that wasn''t the business plan that was reviewed by Star members from the beginning.

Why do UAL folks go out of there way to attempt to bust on US Airways?

I hate to break the news to you, but your career expectations, your pension, your future, UALs prospects, is not what you thought 2 years ago now is it?

Star wants feed, 70 seat, 100 seat, 50 seat, 37 seat work quite well to add to the bottom line. (So does 266, 210, 182, 169, 142, and 120 seat aircraft.)

If and when UAL is able to exit BK, assuming that you are still in one piece after negotiating exit financing, it will be interesting hear what you think then.

If I were you I would be searching for another piece of humble pie about now...course, you don''t sound like you had your first piece yet? Let see, UAL down to 6800 pilots...sounds like your significance in the alliance is changing a bit too.

You NEED US Airways as much as they need you. Get used to it, and learn to show some mutual respect for your brothers and sisters

FYI, don''t you think you have the above mentioned comment backwards???

Did you mean to say "Why do US Airways folks go out of there way to attempt to bust on UAL?

Hmmm... I see you registered on April Fool''s Day...

Are you Chip Munn on another forum by any chance?

I said what I meant.

Why do UAL folks go out of there way to attempt to bust on US Airways?

Best of luck to us all....

Fly:

After reading your post I contacted a a US senior officer to discuss your comments that started this thread. According to the US "executive suite", US & LH are completing their integration work and their bilateral alliance will begin this fall. In addition, US is "working toward a Q1 Star implementation" and has an agressive deadline to have all of the rquired IT work complete by December 31. Normally, it takes 9 to 12 months for a new member to complete all required Star integration requirements, but US is expecting this to be complete in 6 to 9 months.

Meanwhile, US was featured on the cover of the most recent Star online publication.

Fly, it appears your information is invalid.

Best regards,

Chip

I''m sorry Chip but my Reliable Source doesn''t believe your Reliable Source.

True, but US is not yet a member. So, they're not going to be on the website.

In any event, Star has no problems with purely regional airlines. Just look at Tyrolean. They operate 40 F-70s, Dash-8s, and CRJs.

Don''t know if you have to get that type of info from the 7th/8th floor at the Crystal Palace.

US/LH were reportedly going to present their code-share plan to DOT late this month or early August.
