I haven't read or heard anything about *A regarding not keeping US in the mix. However, since Shares isn't compatible with the other *A GLOBAL systems, one might think that its something for Star Alliance to consider.

The alliances don't publish their membership requirements, but at a minimum a prospective member must meet certain safety and service requirements and must modify their computer systems to talk with the other alliance partners. This is no easy feat as most airline systems are more than 30 years old. To combat this problem, Amadeus, a technology company that manages reservation systems for airlines and travel agencies, is developing a common computer platform for Star Alliance members. According to Amadeus senior vice president, Peter von Moltke, the common computer platform will allow any Star member to access another member's computer system to view passenger profiles and itineraries. This will greatly improve the ability to manage that passenger's travel across multiple airlines and, for the first time member airlines will know instantly if a passenger is an elite member on another partner airline.

As a customer who knows the value of the Star Alliance to US Airways I would say NO!

Just to be safe I e-mailed a contact in Tempe who would know. If they aren't traveling I should hear back in a few hours.

Piney,

As often stated on this BB: "As has been said a lot about Tempe lately... they know the cost of everything and the value of nothing."

I just got the answer from a VERY reliable person in Tempe who would know.

"Thanks Bob.

No truth to that rumor at all. I heard that comment from several agents when I was in XXXXX. Shares is in place at many airlines and is fully IATA compatible. CO doesn't have problems participating in Skyteam."

Hope this helps

Co doesn't use this qik shares crap.
