Strike When Ready!

Thats a really good attitude....

That's the attitude of a ramper that used to go upstairs and pester the CSRs when it came time to vote for representation. I heard all the excuses. Many never even bothered to vote. They were happy with the status quo. I gave up caring. Now this merger has come along and now they want to lasso the moon. Fudge 'em.

A true trade unionist would never want to staple a merged group of employees to the bottom of the seniority list.

Considering their seniority compared to US res they would essentially be stapled, anyways.

Please, do not lump all of us CSR's in the same category.... why not try to be more encouraging now that some have "waken up" and are seeing the light so to speak? Many people/employee's are uneducated when it comes to union representation...and it definitely doesn't happen overnight. We had 3 young employee's here that refused to vote...refused to have anything to do with the thought of representation...took me some time but guess what-I didn't slam them for their choice. I have slowly tried to educate them....it is nice to know that a fellow union brother/sister can count on you for support.

Nicely put 700.....

For years CSRs and res have passed up on the oppurtunity for union representation. The company was going to do right by everybody... Doug Parker has our back... We want award pay... Now the chickens have come home to roost. There has been a merger and their new colleagues with union representation make more money than them. You want to make the same amount. You ain't gonna get it! BOO HOO!!! You had the chance for representation all these years and you passed it up. You made your bed, now sleep in it!

CWA should use this to staple you to the bottom of their list:

Get your facts right. We did win representation with the teamsters. It was a long hard fight but we did WIN! We just dont have a contract. If you didnt hear there is an alliance and US cwa and US teamsters will work together. I would rather sleep in my bed alone than get caught near yours. BOO HOO ? nice rantings Your teamwork is pathetic.

Yes. After all these years, you have voted for representation but there is no contract. You know that management will drag that out as long as humanly possible and any pay scale that you receive will be a pittance.

Don't flatter yourself.

Yes im sure the pay increase will be a pittance but it would be a start. I only work part time and I am one of the fortunate ones that do not depend on that so called paycheck to support my family. As a part timer, I worked full time to finally receive representation for my co workers who could use any kind of increase to help with their finances. It did take a long time, too long for my tastes. Turnover was and is so high it was hard to convince employees to not leave and vote union while they had bills to pay. New employees still had not seen the nazi working conditions long enough to vote yes or were deluded into thinking it was going to get better without representation. At least we have a grievance committee in place. Let them spend the lawyer fees to delay the contract, we know the money they spend would not end up in our pockets! And come on barbee dont throw any more tantrums Im sure we could be friends but not friends with benefits!

Dear US West Res,
Do you have a call center analyst? Someone who measures your average call time, # of abandoned calls, and your average fare sold?
If you can show the Newco management that your metrics are equal to, or better than, the outsourced call centers... then you have a strong case to be given a bigger share of the pie; that you are bringing in more money than you cost.
Please use good, verifiable numbers instead of emotions and other fuzzy stuff that is hard to measure and especially NOT threats of striking.
Talk to management in its own terms: $.
Headhunter
If this is the case it should have already been done.

Actually, now would be a great time to strike. With the merger on-going and at least several years of resources spent making it happen, the controllers/owners would be more inclined to come to an agreement than allow the process to be disrupted.
Possible, but not cost effective. Toss out some more boogy-men, rj.

Your ignorance of union/mgmt interactions as well as PITbull's inaccurate assertions are quite entertaining.
There is nothing "unique" about "working from home" or "performance bonus compensation". Asking a labor group to defer action is a time honored mgmt tactic, in the eventual "hope" that tempers will cool.

As time goes on, those who do not act, will miss the boat. Happens all the time.
and, when, all knowing, pile of meadow fertilizer, would be a good time to "rock the boat"?
My hand is the first one raised to work from home. It has been up for at least 15 years!!!

Ok I will throw my 2 cents in to this issue. Working from home is a bad idea unless it is on a piece work system. Basicaly most people would be to distracted at home and not be as productive. As for the few who would be productive , the fair compensation would br piece work.

While we are in negotiation with the IBT/US management your hands are tied to what you can and can not do. To stir up people and talk of strikes is dumb at this time.

Except that these aren't trade unionists -- they're for the most part entry level industrial unionists.

Yet Again you take this personaly. So again let me state for you very clearly my last post.

This was intended for the US WEST agents whom are still without a negotiated contract and have not yet secured the representation from the IBT / CWA. Untill such time as the Union deems it appropriate it would be dumb to rile up sentiment and talk about strikes. Secondly this merger has only been in effect for just over a month, so let the two sides resolve the issues, then if no resolve the IBT can take the action it deems nessacery.

Now as for the WAH program, You may well have a contingency plan if the management wants to impliment it. That is a CWA old US air program and has not been negotiated yet with the US WEST IBT poeple.

I stand by my comments, from past WAH programs, That typicaly they do not work well in a call center environment , unless the compensation is geared towards productivity and piece work.
Granted some agents would do a great job WAH, others would not. If this program was such a benifit to both sides Why is it not been started ??

John John We may have different Views on the value of the IBT / CWA. You need to respect what both sides have valid reasons for each of the opinions. If you want to know why I am passionate in my views PM me and I will explain my reasoning.

This WAH agreement is NEW it was agreed to in January 2005. And you are right the traditional call center is the way to go, unlike outsourcing. I am not on sides .CWA is for USAirways being profitable and a great place to work with good pay and benefits and having a voice and being respected in the process.
