Substandard Mexican Trucks

But what about the 14,970 war protesters who didn't burn a flag....there was even a thread on this board where everybody at that rally was traitor...whether they were anywhere near that flag burning incident or not.

Those who burned the flag, those who cheered, those who stood by and said nothing are...TRAITORS!

And nope...Dad was a Methodist. He just realized as he was dying and a "good christian" with a fish on his truck, a fish on his business card (along with "Jesus is Lord) screwed him over big time. Hence his comment.

So are you saying that because your daddy was on his death bed he suddenly realized that Jesus abandoned him?

Or Are you saying that a 'Snake Oil Salesman' who claimed to be a Christian sold him a bill of goods?

Aha...but in a crowd of 15,000, sevaral folks who had no idea what was going on have also been labeled as "liberal traitors". That is my point...on all the right wing websites, it was used to inflame the passions of the patriots by painting with a very very broad brush what thos 30 folks represented.

It would be the latter...although your last paragraph sounds like it could describe GW Bush.

dear "lets kill a muslim" crew,

recently, some al qaeda muslims destroyed a revered mosque in iraq (sunni muslims destroying shi'ite muslim holy place)

three points:

1) if a muslim destroys another muslim's mosque, you will immediately claim that this was a 'good' muslim. yet, if a baptist destroyed a methodist's church, you will immediately claim that person was a "fake" christian! why the different treatment? (i am not arguing that that type of christian is a "true" christian, i am suggesting you use a similar standard).

2) if a muslim destroys another muslim's mosque, you will immediately claim that this was a 'sane' muslim. yet, if a baptist destroyed a methodist's church, you will immediately claim that person was insane. you would say, it is unchristian-like for someone to blowup a methodist church and thus they must be crazy. why is it not 'crazy' for a muslim to blowup another muslim site? afterall, the differences between sunnis and shi'ites are as trivial as between methodists and baptists.

3) if a muslim destroys another muslim's mosque, you will immediately claim that this is representative of ALL muslims. yet, if a christian does something like that, not only are they not christian, but you claim it is an immediate outlier and not a representation at all.

listen here, if ALL muslims were out to get the west, dont you think things would be much worse? there are more than a billion muslims in the world, they would be kicking major a$$ if ALL muslims were wanting to kill you. there are bad people, the fight is against them.

YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN THOSE THAT ALSO BRING A MESSAGE OF HATE!

awaiting your "lets kill muslims" before they kill us speech.

I am always amazed and saddened when people interpret an act of protected free speech as an act of treason. An act of stupidity .. you bet. A tasteles act. Yep. An insulting act ... yep that too. Treason? Give me a break. OH well, life goes on.

Access for Mexican trucks hits rough road

THE WASHINGTON TIMES

A Bush administration plan to proceed with a pilot program to give Mexican truckers full access of U.S. roads has caused a bipartisan uproar on Capitol Hill.

"The cross-border trucking program is bad for America," said Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican and presidential candidate. "It appears, under the current program, that commercial interests are being pushed ahead of the safety and security interests of the American people."

The Teamsters union and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, a trade association representing the independent truck owner-operators and professional drivers, also oppose the program, saying Mexican trucking companies have poor safety figures, do not keep reliable records on accidents, and do not dependably test drivers for drugs and alcohol.

"It's apparent the Bush administration is thumbing its nose at the will of the American people and Congress," said Todd Spencer, executive vice president of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association.

Mexican-registered trucks are allowed to make deliveries and pickups in the U.S. only within special commercial zones along the U.S.-Mexican border that extend up to about 70 miles inside U.S. territory. But several months ago, President Bush announced plans for a Department of Transportation test program to begin this summer that would permit 100 Mexican-based trucking companies to travel anywhere in the U.S.

Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill complained the program would pose serious safety concerns, and the House last month voted 411-3 to place a series of restrictions on Mexican trucks and their drivers, designed to delay the administration's program indefinitely.

The Safe American Road Act was sponsored by Rep. Nancy Boyda, Kansas Democrat. Ten of the 52 co-sponsors were Republicans.
