Sully reveals secret pain behind his heroism: Miracle on the Hudson captain's father took own life

Good story, thanks for the link. If you haven't read the CVR transcript from the "Miracle on the Hudson", it is worth a look. http://www.ntsb.gov/Dockets/Aviation/DCA09MA026/default.htm It is amazing how busy Sully and Skiles were in the short amount of time they had! The NTSB report also has some cellphone pictures (on line 420144 of the report) taken by a passenger from the raft that I have never seen anywhere else.

Nice find - loved the pictures!

One thing that caught my attention - and I've been guilty of it myself - is the Demo equipment in the OHB where the Life Lines are kept! Need to watch that! 🙂 Though I've never left an entire demo pouch in there, I have found masks in there before.

some of these pictures were on Twitter mere minutes after the plane landed! I have to admit that I found that more fascinating than the feat of the landing itself...

On a side note, I had the pleasure of meeting F/O Skiles. Very nice guy, great sense of humor. 1549 was his first "regular" flight on the A320.
