Super Bowl XL discussion thread

For the record, from someone who watched the game as a football fan, and not a fan of either team ( but kinda rooting for the stillers for cheif and all the other pitt guys I used to work with ) the refs really ruined the game.

ONE FOR THE THUMB BABY! Finally, after 20 years! Regarding bad calls from the ref's, we overcame it in Indy. Next they didn't have enough Escaldes. The Steeler Defense deserved MVP.

I am not a fan of either team, but here are a couple of pictures that were taken at the game:

 😛

Hey, I'll admit some of the calls were a bit stupid. However, even if the "questionable" calls went Seattle's way the score would have been 10-14 Steelers. I watched the game again (TIVO'd it) and you'd be surprised how many holding calls were not called -- against Seattle. Truth be told, both teams played ugly. Wasn't their best, but there is no denying the Steelers earned it.

Yea, I didnt want to imply that the stillers couldn't or shouldn't have won, just that it would have been more entertaining game had the refs done a better job.

The Steelers did play well but I think that after the pre-game show the officials let Stevie Wonder stay on the field and call some penalties.

The officiating was deplorable, and the NFL should be ashamed of itself. It would have been nice to see who would have actually won under a fairly reffed game. Guess we'll never know...

Actually, I guess writing in 72-point, bold block letters says it all. Are we a little sensitive about the fact that MAYBE the yellow striped refs were a contributing factor to the Steelers win? I'm not saying that Pit wouldn't have won anyway...

Here's a quick article to sum up my point... take a minute.

Refs Were Far from Super in this one

Say what you will. Seattle contributed to their own loss. How many dropped passes, how many legitimate penalties? Like I said, both teams did not play their best. What's that saying "Any Given Sunday..."

Furthermore, look at Holmgren's lame speech to the team:

He piled $73,000 one dollar bills as a pep talk. Apparently, the "Show me the money" speech didn't work. I'll take a team with heart like the Steelers anyday.
In the end, the best team did win.

How can you be so sure? No doubt Seattle made miserable mistakes, especially in the second half, and Pittsburgh began to take advantage and trump them on each one. But in the NFL, and especially the Superbowl, so much of the game is about momentum. And the momentum that Seattle had in the first quarter offensively is undeniable. Whether that momentum would have sustained without having to play against the refs too.... we will never know. And it wasn't just this game, but NFL officiating is getting a major rap now for being one of the worst in professional sports.

Congrats to the Steelers, for winning the game. Yes, they won, fairly it would seem. But I wouldn't be surprised to find out someday that some of those refs had some "mysterious" deposits appear in their bank accounts after that game.....
