TAESL closing January 31

So what does that mean for the work that has been done there, including for other carriers?

Is RR dissolving the partnership?

and most importantly, how many people are impacted?

thanks...

"About 600 American Airlines employees currently work at TAESL, including 500 who are represented by the Transport Workers Union of America. The airline also employs about 100 management and support employees at this facility. American will provide continued employment opportunities for all 500 frontline mechanics and TWU-represented employees throughout its system, and is also creating more than 100 TWU-represented jobs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as a way to offset the facility's closure."

All the best to each one and may everyone land firmly on their feet.

This should put the newly formed Association to the test. Could this be round one of more to come?

After reading the article I believe work could continue for all RR work from other carriers around the world and they can even expand to other RR engines. There is money to be made. Unfortunately Parker has stated more than once we are not in the MRO business. This is the first round. Even though no layoffs according to AA, people are being displaced or might take a lay off. Let's hope for the best for all the guys at AFW.

One more distraction for no contract anytime soon. If the incentive to leave is offered to other areas then there was a plan for layoffs in the near future.

This should really be no surprise. New AA has shown they have little desire to be in the overhaul business.

Jeff Brundage may have lost his job over saying labor was just a bunch of bricks, but Parker's not passing up on any opportunity to emptying the backpack.

Jobs in JFK ORD LAX. I doubt many will take them
I see deals will be made to keep the boys close to home. We will see in the coming weeks.

That about sums it up.

Surprized anybody still works there as it is.  The writing was on the wall for the entire AFW base 10 years ago.  I really doubt anybody was caught off guard.  Hopefully, this doesn't distract to the progress in getting us a contract - oh wait, what progress?

Parker is getting his DL like scope that he has been talking about it now instead of waiting for a JCBA. I wonder if they wil offer SiS or just fill vacancies and bump system.
