What would happen if you finished a commercial course, and were issued a temporary commercial licence by the examiner, only to have the validity period of the temp ( i think its 30 days) expire before you get your new ticket in the mail?
Would your ticket revert back to a private or are you left somewhere inbetween with nothing?

I believe you are not allowed to cat as a commercial pilot, but you can act as a private pilot until you get the updated cert.

The temporary endorsement on the back of your Private Licence is for the additional privileges (in this case Commercial Licence).

If you have not received the new Licence within the temporary Period, you should be talking with Transport Canada. There is no excuse for it not being processed within the time frame. There may have been an error on your application (address not clear) and the Licence might be lost in the mail. You can get an extension of the temporary privileges.

Good Luck

I haven't checked lately, but it seems to me temp. issued liscences are usually good for 90 days. (if it makes a difference) 🙂

All you need to do is read the fine print on the back of your licence where the temporary privileges are granted.

"Certification by an Authorized Person grants additional privileges for three months from certification date or until a new licence is issued, whichever is earlier."
