Lets give them 10 more days. Sounds like the union only cares about their DUES, not the flight attendants well being. Anyone who thinks otherwise, needs Help. 10 more days does not do anyone any good. Let's just drag this out as long as we can. The CWA wants your Dues only.

Great job AFA. Never seen a job action they wouldnt back down from.

Instead of using everything at their disposal until the last second. They screwed there members and let NWA off. Who thinks NWA would do 1/2 as much for the FA's? Who doesnt think NWA wont use the extra days to further screw the FA's?

I can see down the road a few years when the F/A's at another AFA represented carrier pull out the 'CHAOS' threat during contract negotiations;management at said airline will have a hard time keeping a straight face.

"I swear to gawd in ten days we'll shut this place down!"
"Really! We mean it this time!! Seriously you guys!!" 🙄

I agree completely. By time the self-imposed ten day moratorium on job actions expire, the AFA will have worked under the imposed contract for almost four weeks. Reasonable for all outsiders to conclude that its terms must not be too terrible - if they were, whey didn't the AFA strike the first day?

AFA did the same thing to us at AWA years ago. All they care about is union dues. When you have the precedent of Alaska and how it worked for them - to be told by your union to "wait", "delay" is BS. We waited and at our 12 am deadline we were told the COMPANY wanted another 2 hours and AFA AGREED!! We got screwed believing that there was something better to come. Well there wasn't and the company had a field day telling the press our new contract cost them "pennies". AFA - get some kahunas.

Peter and the wolf come to mind. We are gonna do it, we are gonna do it, we really mean it. Just kidding.........

Ten more days does the company a lot more good. Jenny said that the time required for the minimum training is two weeks. Now they've got that and a little more time to get replacement F/As into place. Sounds to me like the union folded and now nwa can kick their keisters out the door. Mechanic picket lines are ready for you ladies!

The AFA is a fraud. They work for the company and not the members, just like the TWU. Looks like the NWA F/A's voted in a loser! The AFA said they would bring "leadership" and "experience" to the NWA f/a's, yet the AFA is in NWA airlines management's pockets. How much of a bribe did Pat Friend, Mollie Reiley, and Danny Campbell get to sell out the NWA membership?

Princess. I gotta hand it to ya: Your postings are always rather amusing to read. I do think, only being an outside observer, that it was a really silly move to postpone the CHAOS actions. Actually, CHAOS ought to have started the minute the new term were imposed. I am holding out hope that AFA may be more strategically astute than I give them credit for. With the distraction of the recent terror threats and subsequent last-minute adjustments the airlines are required to make, it appears to me it would've been the PERFECT time to initiate CHAOS. NWA has enough willing participants. I am really wanting to give the AFA the benefit of the doubt, but this pussy footing around needs to come to an end. Do it and MEAN IT!

Coming from someone who has the TWU that is amusing. The TWU is too afraid to even threaten a job action.

From your posts:
If all Muslims aren't terrorists, why is it all the terrorists are Muslims?

Was Timothy McVeigh a Muslim?

Also are you aware of the fact that prior to 9-11 the United States vetoed several UN proposals against Terrorism because "Terrorism" is the use of violence for political purposes, and historically, under that definition, the US government has been one of the most active terrorist organizations out there?

I also found Bush's new title for the terroroists amusing "we are fighting fascist Muslims", so I guess its now a battle between fascist Christians and Fascist Mulsims?

When USAirways FAs were in the 'Countdown to Shutdown' in March 2000 where we were geared up and ready to strike, one of the main things that we were fighting for was to remove the social security offset- which basically deducts money from your retirement once you receive ss if you were married but does not affect you if you weren't married-highly discriminatory if you ask me and many others affected. There were other issues but we were ready to strike and our union reps were 'furiously negotiating' until past midnight behind closed doors. Basically we got screwed by our union reps and AFA who all had to be in bed with the company as only the company really benefited. They came out with some convoluted formula which actually was worse than the initial ss offset and came to a lower monthly payment-but to be fair, you were given a choice- the ss offset or this new payment which would be less money. Then our 'heroic' tearful union reps sobbed (as they were dramatically wiping the sweat off of their brows and the tears streaming down their cheeks) in front of the bright lights and tv cameras that they got us what were were ready to strike over thus brilliantly saving the airline. LIARS. Do not expect much from AFA. They are not the savior you want to believe they are and you need to expect disappointment. There will be this huge emotional crescendo as striking is threatened and there is all of this buildup and press coverage but in the end they will get you 'just enough' to keep you on the property. Not what you want but a little above what the company is offering and they will pound their chests with pride and expect you to thank them effusively, throw flower petals in their path and will them your firstborn. I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade but just letting you know from past experience what to expect. Been there, done that, bought the CHAOS t-shirt.

I have a few questions.
Do the members vote directly for International officers in the AFA and do you have recall?

Do you feel that FAs would be better represented by Ex members of management and or people who were never FAs(like Jim Little of the TWU)?

If you have a democratic structure, that is a truly democratic structure where even the top officers are directly accountable to the members have you ever thought of running for office?

I like the "Countdown to Shutdown" header. It sounds much worse than CHAOS. Either way, the F/A's need to force NWA to put up or shut up! just my thoughts.....
