The Changes to Come

Instead of nickel and diming pax for an additional $20.00/$30.00,a pop why don't we just raise the fares that amount?????I'm sure there is some bean counter that can figure out how much more above and beyond per ticket price we are getting, on the average, from pax by charging for the "extras"....most folks would pay that amount rather feeling like they are getting gouged for the amenities...

I see this type of post over and over again … I think it’s time someone start explaining to these people over and over why this simply won’t work ….


If I go into an auto repair shop to get my car fixed their going to give me a quote on the job , say 250 dollars … then I’ll decide that yes I want my car fixed for that amount …
Later on while my car is getting fixed , the auto repair guy calls and tells me there’s a nick on the rear fender and I could use a new back seat cover because it has holes and all of this will only cost me another 150 dollars … do you know what my reply is , NO!!!! So they fix the car and it only costs me the 250 quoted

Now imagine if I went into the auto shop and they examined my car and found what kept it from running then simply added the other two items I mentioned into the total charge for the repair brining it to 400 dollars .. I’d say to the guy behind the counter “but I don’t WANT those items fixed “ and he’d say to me “well we put those costs in there for your convenience sir “

Heck I’d take my car to another auto body shop so fast ….

Southwest has the most basic product in the industry, but they package it well. They don't only make decisions based on finances, they THINK about HOW THE CUSTOMER will accept the changes, and how their employees will be able to institute the changes.

This is something that AW/US has never grasped. It is never about the logic or customer perception, or the implementation of the service, but someone's dim witted sense of priorities and where to put their nose and when. It is completely selfish form my view. Forget hard cold facts. Some ones ego out weighs what is needed. Percieve this! :angry::angry:

Ever had some of the crappy hotel coffee at 5 am when nothing else is opened and you get a pleasant.."That will be $2.00"? Well, I have. It really happens like that in the real world.

Although the fleet service IAM work group just agreed to a contract(albeit a POS T/A)..that was mainly voted in by a desperate HP west and class II stations, WE will not give back 1 red cent more....I(we) in the fleet group now make about what we made topped out in 1996...minus too many benefits to list....THE CONCESSION STAND IS CLOSED!!!!!!!!
