The CWA/IBT have begun negotitions with the company.

Like I said to me the agents can have that headache. Sayonara and good riddance.
If TWU/IAM doesn’t want the work and is willing to give away Jetway checked items the Passenger Service Agents will take it

WeAAsles may be willing to give up what is clearly their work but I doubt the TWU is. Agents don't belong on the tarmac and TWU members should not be operating Jetbridges.

If they do that, it will mean jobs...not many....but some.

How many jobs do you think bringing up escorts could lose us? I've never seen "Escort Deliverer" on any bid in any Station that I've ever worked in.

And no I don't think the IAM/TWU wants to give up that job but since the agents have already started to negotiate they could wind up snatching it before we get our agreement in place?

It's not clear since from what I understand it's currently in the CWA agreement on the US side that it's their work?

Quite possibly the most idiotic thing ever. These are the equivalent of people buying an SUV and never taking it off road...

The way they allocate manpower is based on "tasks" to be done and taking up strollers (soon we'll be dealing with Premium Bags being taken up) is one of those "tasks." The larger the stations the more that adds up in the models used by the number crunchers.

Have they factored in the cost of IOD time when we start falling down the stairs in mass taking all these items up? I work that 767 MCO flight and the only thing that runs through my mind taking 15 strollers up is "Boy am I getting some good exercise".

Premium bags next? Oh wow, fun times.

Of course they don't. Do you have the statistics of the IOD attributed to stroller delivery?

The company can and should apply a policy that restrict the size of strollers however assistance devices is protected by law

Not knocking any jobs but we ABSOLUTELY should have a more efficient and less dangerous way of bringing them up. IE: A lift system.

Taking escorts up the stairs on a 777 is like climbing Mt Everest. I love the company rule "Every Means Possible"

They do, at least on the legacy AA side.

And unfortunately it seems like that policy is ignored on a rampant basis. Also find it humorous how it's the CC's that defend having and doing that job (Since most of them don't do it, lol)

Well for me I love that little language "Assist the crew" in our contract on that one. But hey I'm a pretty cool guy, I got the water there Bro. ;)
