Video Link
As Barack Obama announces more US troops to train the Afghanistan army, John D McHugh reports on how US soldiers view their Afghan counterparts as ill-disciplined, badly led and with a crippling taste for hashish.

I can relate to that before drug testing in the airline industry....

Damn good stuff coming out of Afghanistan back in the day.

What exactly is thee reason for this post? Are you trying to say that Afghanistan is alost cause and our military is wasting it's time? Or were you just bored and wanted to post something?

Well if you took the time too review the whole thing, (and understand what it is the troops are actually doing there) you would see that there seems to be some difficulty in the grand scheme of "training" some of these Afghani troops against a highly trained and disciplined Taliban army.

Perhaps you should educate yourself first....then open mouth.

Wow, without you posting that video none of us would have had any idea of the difficulties encountered by US troops. Hard to believe that a country that has endured almost thirty years of continuous warfare people might "self medicate".

You mean like the US?

I read they're having a tough time getting the for centuries drug based economy in line with modern first world manufacturing and producing type countries.

Reminds me of some of our front line troops in the sixties.

Obama should have made Iraq his war....less BS there.

Took them 7 years to figure this out?
The difference between now and "the past seven years" is Obama's strategy (as mentioned in the video) is the training of Afghanistan civilians to fight for themselves. The video shows problems they are encountering, much like in Iraq. Prior to that the focus was not on training, rather offensive lead operations by the military.

no justification for Iraq. Afghan has a reason .. sort of.

Well, they'll stone ya when you're walkin' 'long the street.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to keep your seat.
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' on the floor.
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' to the door.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

They'll stone ya when you're at the breakfast table.
They'll stone ya when you are young and able.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to make a buck.
They'll stone ya and then they'll say, "good luck."
Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

What do you expect from a inexperienced empty suit for president with zero foreign policy experience?

Hes doing on the job training! Case in point:

Obama learns of Defense Dept. agency for first time at burger joint! Video Link

Obama: What do you do Walter?
Walter: I work at, uh, NGA, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
Obama: Outstanding, how long you been doing that?
Walter: About six years
Obama: Yea?
Walter: Yes.
Obama: You like it?
Walter: I do, keeps me…
Obama: So explain to me exactly what this National Geospatial…uh…
Walter: Uh, we work with, uh, satellite imagery..
Obama: Right
Walter: [unintelligible] …support systems, so…
Obama: Sounds like good work.
Walter: Enjoy the weekend.
Obama: Appreciate it.

So this post is really about Obama. Along with engaging the enemy what else do you think the US military has been doing in Afghanistan the past seven years?

And where exactly in that youtube video does it say the US military will be spending most of its time training? Seems to me with more troops headed to Afghanistan there will be more to do both with.
