So much of life is spent waiting. Sometimes we wait with others, sometimes it is alone. We often feel that it is time wasted, time that could be better used for other things. But the process of waiting is rarely static. Waiting is instead a necessary step along the road to becoming and the act of achieving. It is not, therefore, valueless. As the saying goes, life is a journey, not a destination.
Granted, waiting is usually the least fun part of any journey, but it doesn't have to be. We can use the opportunity we've been given to enrich ourselves and enrich the lives of others along the way. We are all waiting, so why not make the most of it? Be liberated by the opportunities it can present.
The new Steven Spielberg film, "The Terminal," which opens this weekend, doesn't delay in relating how one may do this. It tells the tale of how one man's journey to the United States takes much, much longer than expected. Yet it is still time well spent. Tom Hanks effortlessly .....................
